IIRC Mr. Popo was based on depictions of a continental Indian character who looks like a racist stereotype, but actually preceded them. It's all a very touchy and difficult issue, but seeing as how Chris knows the full implication of blackface in America and is ostensibly a U.S. citizen he ain't got shit for excuses. Blackface

I really thought it was just an innocent naive version of Popo and he doesn't unterstand the racial implications but then he blows it all away with his own little minstrel show at the end. I know this is not a forum and all, but I guess this can be interesting for the article - how does a roomdweller with the mind of a 12 year old can make such a spot on impression? This shouldn't be a NAF issue because it deals directly with the content of the article. Chris isn't in blackface. He's dressed up as Mr. Popo, who isn't in blackface—he's a member of a species who just looks like that. It's obviously arguable that it looks like he was in blackface and that the character's design could've been inspired by it, but the most likely explanation is that the DANG DIRTY TROLLS knew this much better than Chris.
