Legal system of CWCville
This Krapple post does a good job at explaining what's wrong with the legal system:

I think we can work this in without it being too tangential, essentially we'd be pointing out that Chris's legal system lacks many very basic provisions found in most democratic legal systems, much less the Anglo-American tradition of law, namely violating impartiality. Concretely, Chris is violating the Fifth Amendment (right to due process which seems to include impartiality), Sixth Amendment (right to trial by jury by an IMPARTIAL jury), Eighth Amendment (freedom from cruel and unusual punishment - I believe they've ruled that hanging or electrocution is considered "cruel and unusual", so Chris's methods of torture by having the victims get revenge would definitely meet that), and that's just what I've read so far from the comic.

This discussion really should go here, though it could go in the main CWCville article but it says a lot about the legal system or maybe we can get into details of the trial in the CWCville article and maybe remark on Chris's flagrant disregard for basic legal principles here. --Champthom 15:24, 25 February 2010 (UTC)
*There was another one that was mentioned in a later post, but it's basically said twice in that quote you posted: most, if not all, death penalty cases take years to process. Hell, from the arrest to execution took all of a week! As well, I think the person meant to say that the four were supplied with sub-par lawyers, not judges - the guy Chris gave them was a crack-addled idiot whose main purpose was to just get them killed!

:In any case, I agree that all of this should go in both here as well as the CWCville article.--Blazer 15:31, 25 February 2010 (UTC)
Rewrite Started
I decided to start the Chris and the Law's revamping with a few small things. I revamped the introduction, rearranged certain article parts, edited out some of the stupid piping and removed an entire section that really didn't need to have it's own section. It still needs work, but that's good enough for a start at the moment.--Blazer 17:38, 3 May 2010 (UTC)
Obviously aimed toward trolling... I think I remember reading somewhere that trolling was constitutionally valid or something. I forget the source or exact wording, though. Would be worthwhile to add if we find it. Bill Lumburg 20:38, 28 June 2010 (UTC)
:The closest thing that came in my mind is the case of Megan Meier who committed suicide after a serious case of cyber-bullying. The case known as United States v. Lori Drew brought a non-guilty verdict. So, unless the Virginian State vote lays against cyber-bullying, Chris is still fair game.Griffintown 21:01, 28 June 2010 (UTC)
Photo Law
Whoever edited this article to say photographing a person in public is illegal needs to get their facts straight about the law concerning photography. It is not illegal to photograph a "private person" or any other person (including minors) in public. The only time it is illegal to photograph a person is when they enjoy a reasonable expectation of privacy (i.e. in the bathroom, a changing room, inside one's home etc). This is why Snorlax and Barb were full of shit when they threatened to sue Mimms and Lucas for taking a picture of Chris-Chan, which is mentioned a few lines above, so it's strange the article would contradict itself just a few lines later.

Laws are rules set up to help keep citizens in check. They are usually enforced by the law enforcement of that area and penalties are placed on those who don't follow the laws.

For Chris, however, these just serve as another deterrent in his quest for china.

Understanding
Like his grip on reality, Chris's understanding of the law is uneasy at best. He regularly threatens trolls with legal action, and makes no distinction in severity between a troll threatening violence against Chris and a troll uploading a harmless picture of Rosechu with a pickle to the internet. As a matter of fact, Chris himself is prone to making extremely violent threats, such as threatening to murder Vivian and her entire family because of the audiobooks. He's done everything from calling the police to convincing his father to write to then-President Bush in an attempt to get rid of his Encyclopedia Dramatica page. He has even attempted (poorly) to impersonate the President in a hilarious attempt to convince the trolls at ED to take down his page. He's even attempted to contact current President Obama to stop people from posting gay ads! Chris also believes that the laws in CWCville and the laws stated in Mailbag 55 should be enforced in real life.

Chris himself doesn't have much respect for laws and rules, at least when their enforcement inconveniences him. During his time at Target he didn't see anything wrong with exploiting the free refill policy and loitering for hours at a time in a privately-owned establishment while harassing female customers and apparently soliciting sex. Chris feels that his emotional state entirely justifies his actions at times, stating in Vivian's AIM Chat that he should be excused for disturbing the peace by literally shouting "NOOOOOOO!" loudly in the middle of a crowded mall.

Self-contradictory to a fault, though, Chris is happy to meticulously follow some laws while ignoring others at the same time. In Sonichu Special 4, his cartoon avatar makes a point of obeying the exact speed limit...while on his way to confront CChanSonichuCWC and commit assault with a deadly weapon upon him. Any intelligent and decent person could tell you which of these laws is more important, but Chris is neither intelligent nor decent. In a recent video, Chris states that a man deserves only 20 years in prison for brutally beating his girlfriend to death with his bare hands, which is just twice the penalty he wants for smoking.

In addition, Chris has very little respect for those who enforce the law:

The above quote pretty much defines Chris's attitude towards law enforcement officials. He feels that it is completely appropriate to flip off, insult, lie to, assault, and in some cases even kill people who are simply doing their jobs (although the tale may be exaggerated, it is nonetheless pretty damn awful). And, of course, as any rational person (i.e., anyone who's not Chris) would understand, running away from law enforcement officials is a seriously bad idea. Chris is truly a rebel without a cause or effect.

The correspondence with Jackie revealed that in the trial on the Target incident, Chris thought that his work with the Pokémon TCG League let him off the hook. In reality, the court probably acquitted him either on a technicality or insufficient evidence. Chris probably mentioned the volunteer work because he believed a person's merits, no matter how unrelated, would automatically make one innocent of all charges. It is also telling that he recounted the charge as "Soliciting", whereas the actual charge was "Disorderly Conduct"; he feels that he was only persecuted because of his Love Quest efforts, and not because he was tard raging.

Law troubles
On 11 September 2004, Chris was detained at Charlottesville Fashion Square for loitering, and continually arguing with the staff over a number of months. The incident is depicted in Sub-Episode 1. Chris was banned from returning to the mall on his own and without his parents' company. However, it appears that this ban was lifted or ignored soon afterward.

On 20 July 2005, Chris was charged with disorderly conduct and trespassing at Target, as depicted in Sub-Episode 7 and Sub-Episode 8. After two hearings, prosecutors chose to drop the case (probably after pulling the "autism" card) and Chris was not punished.

Five days later, Chris caused an auto accident when he followed another car too closely and rear-ended it. This went to court on September 12th. He was fined $30 and had to pay $56 in court costs.

Chris's various run-ins at The Game Place has resulted in the cops being called on him a couple times. At least once after Chris called in his parents after he was initially banned from the location and tried to weasel his way back in, and again when he trespassed on the property, though he wasn't charged with anything on either occasion. It is likely that the only reason Chris isn't sitting in a cell right now for violating Virginia law is because he wasn't at The Game Place when the cops showed up after his April 2010 unbanning attempt.

On 4 June 2010, Chris made yet another pilgrimage to The Game Place, violating his ban once again. Chris was armed with his camera, and while Mike was concerned that Chris wanted pictures of his daughter for disturbing reasons, Chris maintains that he merely wanted a picture of Mike for use as a dartboard. Still disturbing, but in entirely different ways. This time Chris was actually caught on the scene, despite trying to run away, and was questioned by the police, who made him delete the pictures he had taken, and basically told him to quit his shit. Chris made his 6 June 2010 video in response to these events.

Chris's parents and law
It's not hard to figure out why Chris thinks the law should serve him and him alone. His parents, too, have the same problem.

* When Chris was thrown out of the Cub Scouts for an unknown event, his parents attempted to sue the Boy Scouts of America for discrimination.
* When Chris threw a tantrum that required him to be restrained, Bob attempted to sue the school.
* When Mimms and Lucas took a picture of Chris and uploaded it to the internet, Chris's parents threatened them with legal action (but never followed through).
* When Snorlax thought she had indigestion (actually colitis), she acted like she was going to sue the Chinese place the food came from. When the doctor actually explained what happened, she dropped the subject.
* When Snorlax was faced with the police after she confronted Michael Snyder in 2008, she chose to harp on the fact that nobody offered her a chair. Her behavior suggested that she was planning to sue the Game Place for exercising its right to ban Chris, but the police called her bullshit.
* Chris's later recollection of the subject includes an absurd accusation that Michael Snyder had a criminal history--it is possible that Bob or Snorlax brought this up and Chris is simply parroting it.
* Chris inherited his love of running from problems--when his parents had their absurd case against Greene County used against them, their first reaction was to run to another county.
* Chris, after attempting to "apologize" to Mary Lee Walsh, was given a trespassing notice. Since, by his own admission, he didn't learn about the contents of the letter until later, it is likely that his parents ordered him to not read the important letter so they could claim that they never got one when Chris inevitably did it again.
* When Alec called the Chandler household posing as Game Place employee Matthew Nobel, they claimed that taking pictures of somebody without their knowledge or consent was "Not illegal". Not taking into account the fact that he was trespassing on private property, it is still ironic, given that they threatened to sue Mimms and Lucas for exactly the same thing.
* During that same call, Bob seems to completely disregard the concept that an individual can be barred from private property, saying, "it's a business place" as though that has any more bearing on the law and how it affects his son than, say, the color of the store's walls.

Chris's ORIGINAL and OFFICIAL laws
As he believes the police in real life are corrupt and sees them in the same light as he sees the jerkops in his comic, Chris has his own spin on the law. The penalties for drinking, smoking and internet harassment involve physical violence including a "Kick in the Teeth" which Chris portrays as a punch in the only one of his supposed series of Q&A videos.

On New Years Eve, 2009, Chris presented a nice babble about a law he wants made to prevent Jack Thaddeus from using adspace he paid for.

Yes, you heard it right. Chris wants to ask the President of the United States to make advertisements he doesn't like illegal. From a practical standpoint, CWCipedia is the only wiki that has a "Main Captain". This "Main Captain" does literally nothing to run or maintain the site at all. Furthermore, if someone paid for adspace, the host that received the money must allow the purchasing party to use said adspace for the allotted time, no matter what they advertise, or the host faces legal penalties. And last but not least, the President has better things to do than slap laws on Wikis.

This attitude is also reflected on his relationship with Mary Lee Walsh. Years ago, she interrupted Chris in what looked like soliciting for sex. Hilarity ensued and Chris received a well-deserved time-out for his antics. Fast-forward in 2009 when Chris, out of the blue, decides to make peace. He went to her office and left her a "Framed Hand-Drawn Apology" on her doorsteps. Knowing Chris's attitude, she filled a trespassing notice. In pure stalker logic, Chris said that since he didn't read the letter and returned it to the sender, he's not legally liable.

Mailbag 55 posits a few more original laws: one, that it should be illegal for men to ever show their bare chest (because, according to Chris, no one in the entire world ever wants to see a man's bare chest, no matter what shape he's in). He also wants to force all women in any kind of relationship to wear rings, thus defeating all symbolism and significance of them.

Due to Chris being forced away from the Internet, Chris has begun to formulate a new law, the "Bill for Anti Online Bad-Mouthing", starting with his second Flipnote, Don'tGetTrolled!. What this entails is unknown, but by the sounds if it, he wishes for a law where no one can ever speak up against anyone in a negative tone, thus allowing Chris to continue to have his e-peen stroked while the trolls can't touch him. While there have been laws that punish those that lead to others being harmed via the Internet, the Bill for Anti Online Bad-Mouthing is one of the ridiculous ideas ever, as it leads to a complete and utter smashing of the Bill of Rights, specifically Freedom of Speech.

TL;DR: Chris ignores the law when it's inconvenient, yet expects it to save the day when the Autism card doesn't work.

In the comic
Chris's understanding of the law in his comics goes so far as to been seen as a mixture of childish tendencies and, some might say, dictatorial tendencies. In CWCville, Chris has banned a number of things in his city. Smoking or drinking alcohol would lead one to be either sentenced to 10 years in jail or a much more lenient $1500 USD fine. However, it should be noted that Chris repealed the law in June 2009.

Even stranger is the the fact that the city tends to lack other races or even other sub-cultures, beyond Chris, the Sonichus and Rosechus, a handful of (white) males and females, and the few Transformers in his town. This lack of diversity leads many to think that Chris has banned them as well. The Rosechus tend to fight for women's rights, that is to say, the ability to strip naked whenever and wherever they want to, not to mention the fact that full women's rights is already established across the U.S., suggesting that Chris has imposed discriminating laws against women in CWCville.

Chris has been seen as a do-nothing mayor, preferring to have his secretary do all the work (as per his thoughts on women) while he goes off on another one of his sweetheart searches. He has mandated "Dating Education" classes for students so that they can learn to go on dates, as well as how to "stay straight".

Actual police officers did not appear until quite late and even then, they did nothing whatever, giving the impression that Chris and his Pokémon abominations are the only thing standing in between peace and eternal virgins with rage. However, Sonichu 9 seems to reveal that there are three sets of "other" protectors: a (possibly) nondescript police force, as well as his own team of Power Rangers and a team of Transformers.

Is CWCville under Martial Law?

It gets even scarier. In a conversation that Chris had with Jack Thaddeus, he reveals that CWCville is the home of a paramilitary force equipped with tanks he uses as a "Police Force", and all his Electric Hedgehog Pokémon have immunity from prosecution and are above the law. If we add all this to the fact that there are no free elections in CWCville, this shows us the city in the hands of a dictator running it with an iron fist, and backed with super-powered goons who are free to do any atrocity with impunity. According to Chris, Magi-Chan mentally scans the city perimeters for any sexual acts, and reports any homosexual activity to the authorities. The participants are then "tried and fined HEAVILY; $500 or 50 Hours of Community Service". Apparently in CWCville, the Fourth Amendment to the United States Constitution does not apply in matters of personal sexual choice. This might put him at odds with his own sexual ideals...

In a strange set of double standards, Chris has been shown to injure, kill, or damage people and property outside of CWCVille. Sonichu 10 has shown no less than three grievous acts upon others: the destruction of the 4-cent_garbage building, the death of over 100 trolls in said destruction, breaking and entering, and destroying internet files and property.

Following the death of Simonla, the culprits (Alec, Mao, Sean and Evan) are subjected to a show trial, and given no defense attorney by the state (violating the Sixth Amendment) forcing Sean to act as their lawyer despite being high as a kite. There is no solid evidence presented for the murder charge, aside from the Voltorb remote (which the prosecutor never tried to prove belonged to them) and wholly unreliable "psychic evidence" extracted by Magi-chan. When they're railroaded and found guilty, they're killed by the people they've wronged (read: murdered brutally by cartoon characters), in a gross violation of the Eighth Amendment forbidding cruel and unusual punishment.

Demonstrating Chris's limited understanding of trials (as his knowledge of trials stems purely from television), the kangaroo court integrates both elements of civil and criminal trials. The Asperpedia Four are not only prosecuted for murder by a state attorney, as per a criminal trial, but also charged with defamation of character, libel, and copyright infringement (as well as several charges such as "profanity to the max" that would hold no water in an actual court) by Chris and his cohorts, as per a civil trial. Surely enough, Chris, Sonichu, and Rosechu are sitting in a bench marked "PLAINTIF"[sic]. That both civil and criminal charges are included in one trial not only demonstrates a poor understanding of the courtroom process, but is further proof that Chris considers slanderous mockeries and other torts on par with major crimes such as murder and assault. To add to the equation, one normally cannot be given a death sentence (or any sentence, for that matter) for being guilty in a civil trial, but in the Asperpedia Four trial civil charges are the primary reason for the death sentence. In summary, the CWCville court system is a constitutional nightmare that violates multiple articles and amendments, and has no concept of due process. One must wonder why it is allowed to exist within the borders of the United States.

tl;dr: Any semblance of law in CWCville exists solely to further the wishes of its tyrannical (and murderous) mayor.
Random Thought: Since Chris gets paid from welfare out of our pockets, are we not paying for him entertaining us? It seems like a fair exchange for me. If anything, Chris should be thanking us (and everyone else who is an USAfag and pays taxes) for keeping him and his creepy obsessions alive. Since I have to pay for him, I want to get every cent worth from this lolcow. --Wild Sonichu 04:33, 12 May 2009 (CEST)
I've noticed that some pages say that his tugboat is $750 and others saying that it's $800. Does anyone have evidence to show which value it is?(Drlugae 19:25, 21 July 2009 (CEST))
*The thing is, Chris has said about three different values. I believe he's said "$800" so let's try and find a citation for that. --Champthom 19:48, 21 July 2009 (CEST)
*The tugboat rises in value each year so long as cost of living increases, so it's definitely over $800. $750 might be an old number from a few years back. Elephant 17:06, 4 April 2010 (UTC)
Is the welfare program chris leeches off of paid for by all taxpayers or just the ones in virginia? V3N0M1300 21:18, 28 September 2009 (CEST)
*It's social security. So it's federal. And it is somehow arranged through Bob's SSN. Details as to how this works exactly are fuzzy. But it isn't typical state welfare. --Fuckingstupid 22:01, 28 September 2009 (CEST)
:*It needs to be reiterated that this is not a welfare check but a disability check. It is a form of government welfare, but it is not welfare in a "you don't need to work" sort of way but that he has managed to establish he has a disability (namely autism) that prevents him from maintaining or keeping work. --Champthom 06:29, 21 April 2010 (UTC)

This is bullshit
As an American citizen who has a job (albeit a crappy job, but it's still a job) I feel cheated that some of my money may potentially be going to this manchild, not to mention I think it would be lulzy to see Chris lose everything.

Who would I go about contacting to get a re-evaluation of Chris's condition as relating to his monthly disability checks? I'm not denying that he has problems (as that should be very obvious), but I think that he is highly-functioning enough for wellfare to be unwarranted (he likely put that his autism hampers his social skills and thus renders him unfit for work, his large Internet presence is proof enough that this is bullshit).

The only record of his autism is that 2004 paper which, for reasons as mentioned in it's article is not really a good analysis of Chris's condition, so if they decide to investigate it would be most likely mandantory for them to get a fresh opinion. Also, this page (which will eventually surface in any search of CWC, most likely Chris will mention it himself) shows all the money wasted by Chris, and is damning evidence IMO (though CWCki being a semi-biased third-party, there will be concerns about legitimacy, and obviously Chris will decry "HACKERS").

There would also be concerns from the CWCkians that even if Chris were to fail a reevaluation and be forced to look for jobs, that he could simply say no one will hire him and get unemployment without actually trying to apply. I would think, however, that the Virginia employment commission would keep tabs on his case, and contact the employers for their confirmation of their refusal to hire Chris (I live in Texas and have been through 2 jobs, the workforce here DOES keep tabs on you like that. In my case it wasn't about abusing the system, but just confirming that I found another employer (whom they had previously called unbeknownst to me), so I'm basing my assumption of how the system works off of this experience).

Another underlying theme I'm getting from the article and the comments (though I may be fucking up the context) is that the arrangement Chris has now may not be 100% legal, which could lead to extra lulz.

Also, the 9/11 videos would maybe show that Chris has no respect for the government and only exists to exploit it.

I am serious about doing this as not only would this potentially direct my tax money to someone who needs it (or another leech amirite :P ) but it would also be a welcome kick into reality for Chris. The only problem is that I don't know exactly who to contact, should I write to my Congressman, to the Social Security Administration, or to the Virginia Employment Commission directly?

I apologize if this has been asked before, I'm a n00b plus I haven't seen anything about it here.
* From what I've understood, other people have tried to get the State to get Chris's tugboat revoked and have failed. Apparently, the state doesn't care about Chris blowing our hard earned money.

* That sucks! >_< I'm going to try anyway though. Even if it ends in failure like all the rest, I can at least say that I tried instead of idly paying for Chris's blowup dolls and video games. I will contact all three of the things I listed (Congress, the SSA, the VEC), and hopefully one of them will maybe turn an eye towards this. - Cadpig 18:53, 11 January 2010 (UTC)
:* Go ahead and take your shot. There's nothing to lose here except Chris's check. On the other side, Please note that you are not going against a single diagnostic (the '04 papers) but every public official, including teachers, who have dealt with Chris in the past. This will also includes bureaucracy inertia who prefer to be lazily wrong than taking steps to makes things right. I have my personal take on this; Chris is taking "blood" money? This makes this site moral. I will never laugh at a mentally deficient person working a menial job because that person is carrying his own weight. Chris on the other side... You tea party kids can very well try, but I doubt you're going to fulfill your fantasy and get someone kicked off of state assistance. At the risk of sounding like a white knight, I have one question to ask of everyone who thinks Chris is unnecessarily sponging off the state and could hold a job if he wanted to: would YOU even remotely consider hiring him? I sure as fuck would not either.Senzuri 15:00, 6 February 2010 (UTC)
:*No, but Chris isn't unemployable because of his autism or any genetic, biological factor. He is unemployable because of his actions and nothing more. I can't honestly find sympathy for someone who's laziness, theft, dishonesty and disregard for legitimate authority have lead to the creation of a wiki dedicated to studying him (and with over 1,000 articles now to boot). Nobody made Chris unemployable but Chris. -Ronichu 03:21, 5 May 2010 (UTC)
Give me a break, it's a couple of hundred of dollars each months. Yeah, it's stuff that could be used to feed the poor, but so could the money you guys use to pay for your internet connection. As this is one of the things that Chris does that actually negatively affects people, I feel like it's one of the major things people attempt to scapegoat him with and justify their lulzy levels of RAGEEEEE. Chaosakita 07:53, 15 March 2010 (UTC)

Don't bother trying to get rid of the tugboat. You can't, you won't, it won't happen. You don't have demonstrable proof that Chris is faking his autism, for example. Never going to happen. Enjoy knowing that taxpayers are not only going to contribute a million dollars (quite literally) to Chris over his lifetime through the tugboat... and don't forget, Chris also gets food stamps every month too (not factored into that million). Elephant 17:08, 4 April 2010 (UTC)
I'm pretty sure the tugboat is voided if you are tried for treason, so lets mail the 9/11 video to the Virginia government and see if we can get him branded as a traitor.--Dan Dash 22:15, 7 April 2010 (UTC)

In the state of California at least, the 'monthly tugboat' averages out at about $825-$850. If California's process is standard for the rest of the country, (which it should be, because it's a federal program) he has to go in for re-evaluations or they'll stop payments. In other words: Once his parents kick off, he's almost certain to lose his funding since he is too much of a stupid fuck to do the paperwork or act like a human being during interviews. Plus, he'd most likely be too lazy to even go to the meetings. -R

Are you guys crazy?
To everyone who wants Chris to lose his monthly tugboat, get a real job etc. I have just one question for you? Why on Earth, given everything we know about CWC would you want him in the work force.

Imagine that Chris did lose his tugboat, and had to get a real job, (and by some miracle was able to hold it). Imagine then, that one day you walk into the Charlottesville Taco Bell, only to find Chris behind the counter. What is your reaction? Do you say "Hey Chris, good to see you working, I'll have three soft tacos?" Or do you instead run out of the store and call the Va health department?

tl;dr it's not welfare, it's a government program to spare people the unpleasantness of dealing the effects of Chris-Chan in the work force.
