I strongly avoid second guessing my fellow admins but I feel that Clyde may have reacted too strongly to the current vandalism. In theory, I think if someone wants to edit the front page, they should be allowed to do so, as people could genuinely have valid contributions. I'm protecting it for two weeks so the current vandals will probably get it's a bad idea to vandalize the CWCki by that time. 
I think that front page vandalism is a rare occurrence, the last time this happened was back in October and we've been fine since then so I personally disagree with permanently protecting the front page (after all, we're not CWCipedia :3).
