The slickness of the walls keeps him from climbing up them to save her. Billy Mays was 'tired' in anycase. However, the walls of text and general bad writing led to some confusion and the belief that he also died in the comic.

That isn't CWC failing at "basic geometry" but rather a reference to a nonsensical meme, which was later reiterated through an animated gif of Sega Genesis Michael Jackson approaching an Xbox 360, turning a full circle, and moonwalking away. If Chris got it from this, I think it's an example of one of the few times he has actually understood internet culture beyond his own creations.
