I feel if I do it myself right-off, he'll not only get super angry and raise his voice to Loud Shouts, but it would just put me into a state where I may as well be lying cowardly on the floor in the fetal position. This way, he gets his anger out into the air only (mom would leave the room during the time), and he'll have time to recover and calm down before confronting me about it (not as loudly).
