- 1 January - Chris welcomes in the new decade by tweeting out the lyrics to I Got A Fish.
- 4 January - Chris is happily gifted a "healing" crystal-infused water bottle.
- 15 January - With the nonpayment of the server fees and the arrest of their sysop, Encyclopedia Dramatica shuts down.
- 17 January - Chris demands on Twitter that he be unbanned from The End Games so that he can learn to play Dungeons and Dragons.
- 23 January - The End Games blocks Chris on Twitter, causing him to whine about their lack of inclusiveness.
- 26 January - The End Games receives a piece of mail containing a drawing, apparently from Chris.
- 29 January - Ben Saint returns after months of quiet to Chris's attention on Twitter; he and Chris together solicited crowdfunding for a convention.
- 30 January - Two creditors sue Chris for debt, bringing the Chandlers' running count of debt cases received past double digits, to eleven, also proving that Aly Hirschberg, a generous donor for Chris, has been wasting his money, as Hirschberg intended his donations to help Chris with his bills - exchange rates be damned!
- 30 January - Chris unveils his in-progress Dungeons and Dragons character sheet.
