7 January 2010

Someone should email him about this holiday business and how it relates to his fucking ego. --CWCAttack 04:52, 8 January 2010 (UTC)

  • Ha ha, you really think he'd listen? --Lime Madotsuki.png 04:53, 8 January 2010 (UTC)
    • That hasn't stopped us before!--Beat 04:57, 8 January 2010 (UTC)
    • Yeah, and we'll get even more essential CWCki material! --CWCAttack 05:00, 8 January 2010 (UTC)
      • He's still big in Molvanîa, right? How do you say "Gay Day" in German? Griffintown 05:02, 8 January 2010 (UTC)
        • Look it up in Google Dictonary, you lazy turd! --CWCAttack 05:06, 8 January 2010 (UTC)

Collapsible Text?

Does this wiki support collapsible text? I've tried some wiki language used at other wikis on this page to no success just to see if it could be done.

I was thinking it might be a good way to make the page less dense if we could group the blog entries by month into collapsible sections. Alteceastlansing 04:57, 13 January 2010 (UTC)

Actually, yeah it does. Here's an example.--Beat 07:40, 13 January 2010 (UTC)

  • I'd forgotten that article was set up that way. Cool, I'll work on that sometime soon then. Thanks! Alteceastlansing 07:54, 13 January 2010 (UTC)
  • Well, I've tried the collapsible tables, and I think the page looks a lot cleaner with them. Let me know if they're okay or if it should be put back the way it was. Alteceastlansing 05:54, 14 January 2010 (UTC)
  • That looks really nice, man. Good job! --Dude 06:03, 14 January 2010 (UTC)
  • They are great but since I am a Style-Nazi I would like to ask if there's a way to stretch them all across the screen when they are collapsed? Yes, I am a dickhead but I would love to see them centred. Griffintown 06:08, 14 January 2010 (UTC)
  • Good idea, poor execution. I'd rather have it grouped by months with Level 2 headings, then level 3 headers so you can link directly to them. Key thing here is that people should be able to link directly to a specific Captain's Log entry. For instance, if I want to cite the 20 November 2009 post, I shouldn't force the reader to wade through August - November 2009 in order to find it. While it's a neat way of presenting it, it's sometimes better to have something that is functional and serves the needs of CWCki rather than something that looks neat or pleasing. --Champthom 06:11, 14 January 2010 (UTC)
    • I was trying to figure out how to stretch them across the screen while collapsed, and couldn't really find anything that worked. But I was thinking about the ease of adding information being compromised as well while I was setting it up. Seems that getting that mix of functionality and cleanliness is going to be beyond my abilities. I'll go ahead and put it back the way it was, and maybe someone else can tackle it (EDIT: looks like someone beat me to it). Thanks for the feedback everyone! Alteceastlansing 06:20, 14 January 2010 (UTC)
    • Hey, it was a nice try. Thanks for tackling it. Griffintown 06:26, 14 January 2010 (UTC)
    • Right, Champthom and Griff made some good points. It was a really good experiment, though; we definitely could use some new tools to help make oversized list pages more manageable. As they are right now, they might be easier to link to from the outside, but they're definitely harder to parse when you're in the middle of them... I feel like I've put a few hundred miles on my mousewheel over the last few days! --Dude 06:39, 14 January 2010 (UTC)
