The Bear Man...

Mr. Skeen

Lions and tigers and bears, oh my!!! Most of us would be scared to death to confront one of these ferocious animals, but one of our fearless leaders sure isn't. Who'd have thought that at the age of 23, assistant principal Don Skeen wrestled a live bear? He wasn't trying to escape death though, he did it all because of a dare! With the bear standing 6'6" tall and weighing in at 370 lbs., Mr. Skeen managed to stay in the ring and wrestle the mighty bear for six minutes and 36 seconds. Doing so gained him the world record for the longest bear wrestle. Since then, he's never quite been able to live down the nickname "Bear." These days Mr. Skeen still manages to keep that excitement in his life by catching the snakes that invaded our school this fall. We should be glad to have such a courageous guy on our side.
