Chris-Chan or Chris-chan?
Which is it? I believe I moved this to Chris-chan Sonichu in my more vunerable days as an editor, when the CWCki was just starting. Does Chris use Chris-Chan? --Champthom 16:27, 26 September 2009 (CEST)
*The Wiki page on Japanese honorifics indicates that the -chan should be lowercase. Technically, we're correct in using 'Chris-chan', although he might be fucking it up and using -Chan, it's hard to tell in his comics as they're written in ALLCAPS. *But Chris isn't really using it as a Japanese suffix, he's using it as an abbreviation of his last name (Chandler), witch would make Chris-Chan the right way to spell it. I'd move it again... RachmaninovDESU 20:19, 26 September 2009 (CEST)
:*I like to think of it is a play on words, like it's -chan like the honorific, -chan like Chandler, and Chris-chan sounds kinda like "Christian." I'm asking though if Chris uses "Chris-Chan" in the comics since I don't feel like double checking the comics to see if he consistently uses Chris-Chan. --Champthom 22:01, 26 September 2009 (CEST)
*Really? I always thought he got the -chan from Megan because she was weeaboo too (he calls her Meg-chan in the comics, etc). I guess the best way to find out if it should be Chan or chan is just to find out how he started using it, or just ask him which one he uses. *Also, I know this discussion is over a year old now, but being that it was never resolved, whilst I'm on this talk page I may as well just say that I think that whilst the -chan suffix may very well be a magnificently retarded pun on the Japanese word, it's still prinipally meant to be an abbreviation for Christian Chandler, so I think the -Chan should be capitalized. --Old meme 05:40, 9 July 2011 (PDT)
Chris-Chan Sonichu and even MORE Ripoffs
Wow, haven't done this in ages, but I wanted to mention something I've come to realize about Chris-Chan Sonichu. CCS's weakness - striking the Sonichu marking on his chest - is most likely ripped off from two franchises again - Power Rangers and Sailor Moon. Power Rangers is a given - in season two, we're introduced to the Z-Putties, Lord Zedd's Putty Patrollers, who's main weakness was the Z Plate on their chest, which would destroy them when struck. However, Sailor Moon might be a kind of a stretch - at least two seasons had the main heroine's transformation brooch damaged or destroyed, forcing her to revert back to her normal self (the movies just had her costume explode into the usual ribbons instead).
Since we know Chris was a major MMPR fan back in the day and by the time he started drawing Sonichu, he was infatuated with Sailor Moon, it wouldn't be too much of a stretch to say that those two were inspirations. Just my two cents here.--Blazer 22:11, 8 July 2011 (PDT)
*Cool story bro, but if you think this is worth putting in the article, then put it in, add some sauces, and if it's no good then it'll be removed. No point wasting time asking us on the talk page. Be a man of action! --Old meme 05:36, 9 July 2011 (PDT)
