So ages ago some guy called Sygerrik wrote this on his user page.
Chris and Repetition
Chris is extremely fond of repeating himself. A number of his favorite phrases and concepts are reiterated over and over again nearly verbatim. Examples include "a Boyfriend-Free Girl to make into a Sweetheart From the Ground-up," and his assertion that the idea of "Date Ed" sounds "dated" and that "sex ed is fine for after the third date." There are a number of possible explanations for this.
-Chris has trouble forming ideas into sentences, and when he finds one that he thinks works well, he simply reuses it over and over
-Chris thinks that some of his CWC-isms are funny jokes and bear repetition
-Chris is so lazy he literally copy-pastes blocks of texts from earlier screeds and manifestos into later ones
-Chris is simply terminally unimaginative and cannot think of more than one way to express an idea.
Given what we know about Chris, any or all of the above are possible. A large number of the phrases collectively known as CWC-isms are repeated like the above.
I'm gonna try and expand on it.
Honestly, I'm not sure there's a whole article's worth of ideas here, but maybe it would make a nice addition to CWCisims or Chris and English or something.
Chris has been known to make up his own words for things, which we have documented extensively, but perhaps more unusual is his utter commitment to the words and phrases he makes up. It's not uncommon for Chris to come up with a single word of phrase to describe something, and use it ad-infinium. Take for example, the following.
“ | My father, he picks more arguments than flies in garbage dump. | ” |
Chris, dishonoring his father in Mumble 1. |
Chris refers to this as a "personal joke". It's a pretty poor analogy, and very clumsily worded, and would make more sense if it said something more like "My father starts more arguments then there are flies in a garbage dump", but with a little bit of thought, the message can be derived. Most people would say something like this as a quick analogy to demonstrate how much they argue with their dad, realize it sounded kinda stupid, and never return to it.
But for whatever reason, Chris can't let go of this phrase. If at any point he must mention his father, and how much he argues with him, this is the line that he'll say. He's used it several times in IRC, and even said it to the incredulous Matt Devora in the father call.
There are lesser examples of this that can be seen from time to time. In the mailbags, Chris would repeatedly refer to Asperchu using the exact same "Crappy blocky and low-resolution style" line.
Chris will never get sued
And it's not because he's slipping through some legal loophole or anything like that. Nintendo, Sega, Fox, Coca-Cola, and whatever company owns transformers will never sue Chris because legal proceedings cost a lot of money, and Chris lives on 800 bucks a month from the government. There's just no benefit to the considerable costs.
