When archiving links with Archive.today, I think it would be best to keep the original link as well. Because Archive.today's link format doesn't retain the URL of the original link. Hurtful Truth Level (talk) 09:33, 13 April 2023 (EDT)
- It does retain the URL of the original link in the actual archive at the top, example. it also saves work for us in the future when links inevitably do die and we just have to go around deleting the original link. it just means we have to be slightly less lazy in the shortrun and describe links and not leave bare urls. 05:40, 14 April 2023 (EDT)
- I mean the link itself. If Archive.today were to shut down it would leave dead URLs that say things like "VAJWB" instead of the original URL like Wayback does. As for deleting original links, I'm not sure it's necessary to do it. If an archive exists next to the link, like here, then people can just click the archive if the original link is down.
