sortable table?

perhaps we should make this into a sortable table format, so that users can sort by saga, et cetera. i like the current formatting, though, as it's probably a bit easier to read than a table, so maybe the table should go on a new page called Table of Captain's Logs or something --cogsdev/vedsgoc 07:51, 13 October 2009 (CEST)

  • until we can find a good way to sort the icons, we can't really do it as a table. i'll look into this --cogsdev/vedsgoc 08:18, 13 October 2009 (CEST)
    • Undid the table until we can find a way to make it sortable. --Ed Kelly 08:21, 13 October 2009 (CEST)

        • What happens when the video has more than one subject/style/saga icon? --Ed Kelly
        • Actually, I prefer the list style because it's easier to read, but since I'm a newfag I'll let you guys decide what's best.--Ed Kelly 08:55, 13 October 2009 (CEST)
        • Also, yyyy/mm/dd dates suck.--Ed Kelly 09:16, 13 October 2009 (CEST)
  • icons are now sortable. they're templates, so transclude them into the table with {{name}}. they work by including a hidden string that the table's sorting script can read(it ignores images). there's a list of available icon templates here. regards table layout, we're thinking of using something like this so that the description is on a new line but moves with the information directly above it. thoughts?
    • Yeah, I like that.--Ed Kelly 10:52, 13 October 2009 (CEST)
  • i moved the table to Table of Videos, and moved the key into a template(which you can easily edit using the little edit link i added to it while we work on it). there's not much point adding stuff to the table until the list is finished, though, so please continue the fantastic work that's been done on this article --cogsdev/vedsgoc 11:27, 13 October 2009 (CEST)

new icon types?

perhaps we should add new icons for information such as how the video was released(leaked or youtube), which shirt he was wearing(using Chris and fashion as reference), time of day, etc. --cogsdev/vedsgoc 04:57, 16 October 2009 (CEST)

  • I'd be careful about over-complicating it. The icons were originally just supposed to be a guide so you could quickly identify a video that you were looking for, and people are probably more likely to remember subject, style and saga than what he was wearing or the time of day. --Ed Kelly 14:28, 16 October 2009 (CEST)
  • As seemingly useless as the shirt icons are, they're absolutely hilarious. Awesome work. --Whoreos n' Milf 16:59, 27 October 2009 (CET)
  • subject, style and saga are enough for finding a particular video you're looking for, but having more information makes it easier to find other videos you might not have been looking for, particularly with the sortable table. while time of day is a bit silly(especially since it's quite hard to tell), format(leaked/youtube) is quite useful, and shirt is probably not very useful but still quite interesting, i think

The Great Merging

Okay, so we have three pages that try to list every video Chris has made:

The first one is accurately dated, has good descriptions, and is updated up until August 2009. It's also a descriptive title. But it's in a very boring table and out of date.

The second has icons which are really nice, it categorizes videos, but a vague title (it should be at least "List of videos" for one). It really should have a more specific title, maybe give it "List of videos produced by Christian Weston Chandler" though that would exclude videos like the one where he goes to the bar which was actually made by a gal pal.

The third has the video in sortable table format, which is extremely useful, though the dating needs work (then again, Cogs is still working on it), but the title sucks (no offense to cogs) - it's still a list, just in table format.

Ideally, I see the first and second combined into the third and then we'll have a kickass list of all of Chris's videos. But we still need a good, descriptive title (or at least I think so - if you beg to differ, say so and perhaps you'll convince me otherwise).

Any thoughts? --Champthom 14:20, 19 October 2009 (CEST)

  • i think a list of all videos chris related would be great, not just stuff he uploaded. i doubt anyone would search by that criteria anyway. we're just going for the shit that's hilarious. an icon to indicate leaked or live (chris drinking/city hall) might suffice. and the title is the least important shit. getting the shit into a decent format is more important. • True, though I wasn't very clear, top priority is to get everything into a clean, presentable format so we have a kickass article that is useful, informative, and pleasurable to read. --Champthom 03:03, 20 October 2009 (CEST)

New shirt icons

Hey, guys, how about a new shape for shirt icons? (deleted. see article page for pics) If you like, I can make the rest of'em. My main goal was to visually distinguish the shirt icons from the round subject matter icons. --GokuGetEm 12:20, 24 November 2009 (CET)

  • Thanks! I'll upload them tomorrow, I think.
By the way. What does the "website" icon depict? I seriously can't get it.
Oh, and also. I think we need to somehow distinguish "video games" (subject matter) and "video game" (other). --GokuGetEm 20:24, 24 November 2009 (CET)

Okay, uploaded the new shirt icons (see article). Tell me what you think. On another note, how about these new icons: Homosn.png Fanartn.PNG Sexn.png, instead of the old ones: File:Homos.png File:Fanart.png File:Sex.png? Also, my questions about the "website" icon and the "video game"/"video games" icons still stand. Okay, off to another article --GokuGetEm 21:52, 25 November 2009 (CET)
