*Sounds like a good plan. At least we can figure out where Chris goes then. Might I suggest though that instead of trying to ask for Chris (especially if the group is already keen to the crank calls they get about him) you pose instead as someone who's interested in joining their group? Tell them that one of their members recommended the group to you, and than drop Christians name.
