- February 24 - Christopher Weston Chandler is born at approximately 5:30 AM, at the Martha Jefferson Hospital in Charlottesville, Virginia.[1]
- February 24 - Chris is brought back to the Chandler household in Ruckersville, Virgina.[2]
- April - Cristopher allegedly speaks his first word: Monkey.[3]
- October 13 - Sarah Hammer is born.
1983
Christian has stated that in 1983, he was abused by his babysitter, starting his autism. On other occasions, however, Chris has said said he is aware of autism being a heriditary disease, making him "getting autism" impossible. We can however assume that the abuse Christopher suffered in 1983 was traumatical.[4][5]

- December - The English conductor of the Regency Square Bear Band, Leonard Bearstein, mistakes Christopher's name for "Christian". According to Chris, this stuck, and would inspire his name-change in 1994.[10]
- December - The Chandler family moves from Ruckersville to Richmond.[11]
- Christmas - Chris gets a Nintendo Game-Boy. His second gaming system.
