I'm looking at the Google Maps trail and using my SPEED ESTIMATING skills it looks like it's a about 1/3rd of a mile. According to [http://www.arkansasrunner.com/calculators/mileperhr.htm this thing] he ran at a speed of about 5 miles an hour for the parts he was actually running and taking breaks.
There's a rule of thumb (for hikers) that says you can hike a mile in about 20 minutes, which works out to about 3 miles an hour. So during the parts Chris was actually running and he moved at less than twice the speed most people run at.
