Possible Chao Rip Off?

I can't help but notice that the body proportions are that of which can be found in Chao, which are raisable creatures featured heavily in the Sonic the Hedgehog Series. Similarities include:

• Lack of hands, fingers and legs.
• A Sonee looks like a Sonic Chao with a Sonichu skin on it, while the Roseys are probably to an Amy Chao as Rosechu is to Amy Rose.

I'm sure I'm missing a few, but do you think this is good enough to bring up? I see in the pictures of Chris' room that he has a DreamCast and we know he has a GameCube, and undoubtedly, he owns a copy of Sonic Adventure 1 and 2 for both, as well as possibly the handhelds and every other Sonic game he has with Chao in it... so it's likely he ripped them off too.

The thought just occurred to me earlier today when I was playing my SA2 for the DreamCast and bypassing some restraints to get a metal Chao without using the browser (I got a "Sterling" Chao, as I like to call it, and that required some time in the gardens, and being surrounded with Chao suddenly struck the idea in my mind why Sonees and Roseys are so familiar.).
