- Nice idea on the template. I suggest changing the wording from "Thanks to them, we now know that " to "Chris was brainwashed into believing that ". Explains what happened and allows for linking to that article. Also, I think the template should be at the top of the page instead of in sections since the IG alterations sometimes involve multiple sections. Hurtful Truth Level (talk) 06:43, 1 March 2020 (UTC)
- The wording change was good; I have changed it to your version. I was considering making the Idea Guy box a sidebar that would go on the page's right, with text wrapping about, but my HTML knowledge is too poor to do this myself. As you say, just putting this template at the top of articles is another, simpler way. ChanOfTartary (talk) 18:08, 1 March 2020 (UTC)
Keeping the Idea Guy influences sections
I think we should keep the sections. The problem with removing them is the template then gets folded into unrelated sections - like with the Sonichu page and how the IG influences are now mixed into a section on Sonichu as a Mary Sue. The purpose of the IG influences sections is to give convenient references to changes the Idea Guys made and I feel that's lost by removing the sections. - You raise a legitimate point, but one could extend that reasoning. Sections are appropriate when the Idea Guys have made substantial changes, but if a section only contains one or two sentences, it can just as well be included in line with the rest of the text. - I know it's unorthodox for wiki editing to have mini sections but I think that's the best way to create a clear separation between Chris's ideas and the Idea Guys' ideas. See Also/External Links sections also only feature a few bullet points. Hurtful Truth Level (talk) 13:47, 8 March 2020 (UTC)
- I was thinking of something along the lines of this, where the Idea Guys influences are spoilered. This might allow us to not be too constrained by the expected size of the usage notes, and risk omitting notable information under such pressure. --Little Owl (talk) 08:11, 8 March 2020 (UTC)
- The IG influences sections tend to be small enough to not require spoilering. Hurtful Truth Level (talk) 13:47, 8 March 2020 (UTC)
