Christopher's name change was sparked by the incident involving one Leonard Bearstein who played in the Bear Band at the Regency Square Shopping Mall during Christopher's childhood. When the young Christopher told Bearstein his name, Bearstein misheard and called him Christian.[1]
The young Christopher apparently interpreted this as a sign from God, and this led to his decision to change his name to Christian, which happened in 1994.[citation needed] Christopher's father Bob had originally wanted to name his son Christian anyway, but pussied out.[2]
