The idea here is to suppress images that Wikipedia uses as placeholders. That is, if you filled in an infobox with the Image class names template in it, and you entered "Replace this image male.svg" for the image to be used in the box, it would render with the "metadata dummy" text instead.

Usage

These usage notes will not be included in articles bearing this template.

This is a metatemplate used in other templates such as infoboxes. It replaces images listed within the template with "metadata dummy" when they are used. The formatting of this template is as follows.

{{Image class names|Replace this image male.svg}}

-Displays: </noinclude>metadata dummy

The idea here is to suppress images that Wikipedia uses as placeholders. That is, if you filled in an infobox with the Image class names template in it, and you entered "Replace this image male.svg" for the image to be used in the box, it would render with the "metadata dummy" text instead.
