I'll do some trimming, don't worry; I won't fuck up the pretty pictures or anything. --Jump 22:56, 1 May 2009 (CEST)

  • If you're going to trim, please do so by eliminating redundancy and that sort of shit. To be honest, this is the best article on the wiki at the moment because it's so in depth, well written, and well researched. More articles should be like this. --Champthom 00:27, 2 May 2009 (CEST)
    • It very nice and detailed, just somewhat redundant or speculative at points. Too stressed to work on it tonight, I'll take a crack at it this weekend. --Jump 05:12, 2 May 2009 (CEST)

To do

OK, this article could be a potential nightmare here. My plan was just to watch the entire series all the way through and note anything that Chris stole or adapted into his own life. What I've wound up with is such a long list that I felt I had to organize it as an episode guide just to have it make sense.

I'm open to suggestions here, but I think the problem is that we all assumed this would simply be a list of characters "inspired" by Excel Saga (Bagget, Naitsirhc, Shinabe, etc.). In truth, it goes a lot deeper than that, since Chris would steal dialog as well, and throwaway references like the Red String of Fate or dating games would creep into his day-to-day routine.

And I'm not even finished yet. The section I want to include on this is something that points out Chris's unflattering resemblance to the male characters on the show. Sumiyoshi basically looks like a Japanese version of Chris. Iwata shares Chris's attitudes towards the opposite sex, and Watanabe is a sad sack who'd gladly shove anything up his butt to get into Hyatt's pants. For all of Chris's fascination with this show, and his insistence on being the "director" of Sonichu, he never notices how much more he should identify with the less glamorous characters.

Anyway, I plan on putting some screencaps up, with comparisons from Sonichu to show how blatant this stuff is. Once I've got all the material in, I'll try to trim this down to something manageable, but for now... damn, Chris is an unoriginal bastard. Dethchemist77 05:00, 7 March 2009 (CET)

This is beautiful stuff, and stuff I would have never known about. Good work. --Champthom 06:00, 8 March 2009 (CET)

Need to uncollapse box the collapse box. Seriously, shit is annoying as hell. Yeah, it makes the page long but there's nothing wrong with a long page given the content of the page. --Champthom 19:06, 21 September 2010 (PDT)

I disagree. Without this the article is REALLY long, and now we have a nice summary and optional details by 1 click (2 clicks), and I think it actually even looks fine in the box. Also I fixed it this way because someone posted the "oversized" tag. --Sonijew is back 23:53, 21 September 2010 (PDT)

Fucking awesome article

Seriously, I'd dare say that in my personal opinion, this is the wiki's best article. It is original, well researched, well cited, lots of photographs to illustrate, and is extremely useful for trolls. I need to make a template for Fucking Awesome articles like this. More articles need to be like this one. Keep it up. --Champthom 08:35, 10 April 2009 (CEST)

I knew Chris stole some things from this series, but man, this is insane. Props to you.

I can't get over how amazing this page is. Llort 23:50, 25 May 2009 (CEST)

just popping by to say this is my favourite article --Cogsdev 23:57, 15 July 2010 (UTC)

I, too, agree with above posters. The comparrisons made between Episodes and Chris' comics are always a hilarious read. Also, good to see the page tidied up, props to whoever did that. --MEANWHILE 03:36, 16 July 2010 (UTC)

I got an idea

If anyone reading this knows how to pretend to be Chris's one true sweetheart, can you ask him if he ever has sex with that dog plushie mentioned in the article? Thank you in advance. V3N0M1300 03:44, 16 August 2009 (CEST)

The name's actually "Excel Saga"

Just like Chris writes it. --Sonijew 18:21, 18 September 2009 (CEST)

Manga?

It's been a while since I've read it from the beginning, has anyone else found any connections between the Sonchiu comics and the stories specifically from the Excel Saga Manga?-Turbam

Doubtful. Mind, I'm not a fan of the manga, but I do know a friend who is, and things get pretty different pretty quickly, to the tune of the plots have almost nothing in common beyond some shared characters. Chris isn't much of a reader, as you've noticed. Ensign disposable 06:27, 18 October 2009 (CEST)
One day I plan on catching up on the series to make sure, but I don't think there's a strong connection, for the reasons Ensign disposable pointed out. Chris definitely owns a copy of the first volume, and you can see it in photos of his room if you know where to look. I think it was on the Megan Shrine. My guess is he bought it back when the DVD's were coming out and the anime was popular in the U.S., but he didn't care for the manga. The bigger tell is that he never references Elgala, the manga-only character who joined ACROSS about seven books in. If Chris read the manga, he'd consider Excel to be part of a trio. Instead, when he makes ModNation Racers of the characters, he just does Excel, Hyatt, and that's it. Dethchemist77 15:22, 19 November 2010 (PST)

"Nabeshin like intervention"

Right now, it's speculative in tone whether Chris drew himself in the comic based on Nabeshin's inserting himself in Excel Saga, yet based on the final page of Sonichu 10, he made some comment like "No more Nabeshin like interventions." So that passage should be cleared up.--Champthom 20:33, 16 December 2009 (CET)
