The F in English
There's some confusion over what F Chris is referring to. Some believe that he got an F for this video (though how could he get an F for a video where he's complaining about getting an F for?) but based on the fact that (after listening to it again), he talks about how he started out with an A and the teacher kept going "lower and lower" with his grade, it seems to suggest that Chris is complaining about his cumulative grade in English and thought he'd throw in his bitching at the end since his English teacher would have to see it. --Champthom 02:06, 3 October 2009 (CEST)
I think it's just referring to the poetry assignment.  It might be his arrogance to assume that the assignment was worth an A, and then in the teacher's evaluation of it, she lowered that deserved grade all the way to an F.  It being the cumulative grade in English does make sense, but if Song of Christian 2 was also made in mid-May, it would be too early to get a final grade.  Although it's possible that he found out via an early warning notice or something.
I also find it unlikely that this video was for the class.  I just always thought of it as him playing around with his camera, talking about various things relevant to him. However, if it were for class, it would most likely be only the first video; the second one only talks about the poem kind of as an afterthought.  He makes reference to presumably his English teacher, with a name that is unclear, but starts with a B.  In any event, it's different from the name (if it were a name) he said in the 'indecipherable mutter' soon before the reading of the poem.  Pitifuladultlife 15:25, 11 October 2010 (PDT)
I think it is highly unlikely that Chris had a video camera to play around with at age 16. Chris has a lot of disposable income now because of his tugboat, but before he turned 18 his parents were probably keeping it all, and we know he didn't have a job. Chris was likely issued a camera by his school to make this video. Also remember that this was before youtube, so Chris didn't have the expectation that everyone in the world watches every video he makes. If he made this in the privacy of his own home for his own edification, then why is he referring to the teacher as 'you' and speaking as if she can hear him. I wonder who this video was made for? It wayyy predates Chris's YouTube adventures, and he can't possibly have thought of creating this sort of self-promotional DVDs at that time. It's pretty clear why he included it on the DVD (since the idea was probably to cram in every piece of video featuring him, ever), but who did he, at the time it was filmed, think this video was made for? Did he just pick up a camera and think "I shall create 'The Christian Chandler Show' in my image"? If he just wanted to rant about the poem not getting enough respect, why film it? ...just a few questions that probably never get really good answers. --Wwwwolf 16:47, 7 June 2009 (CEST)
*I think the standard interpretation is that this was made for a class project, though it's possible he made it for himself. == Voice ==
Christian's voice is not very different.... I mean, it has a fuller and more transcribable tone but saying that it's that much different as to be a combo of James Earl Jones and Captain Beefheart is just.... Odd. It's basically a more conscious version of his normal voice, like he actually cared or was aware of how he sounded during the recordings that eventually went away due to his lack of people to talk to and practice the use of his voice with. And also, Chris only became hassling to listen to later in his life, after 2005. The Harvey Birdman video was actually, in my opinion, more intelligible then the song of chistian vids.
