In the settlement, Columbia agreed it would not use the title "Ghostbusters" for the cartoon based on the 1984 film, and so Columbia instead used the title ''The Real Ghostbusters'' for its 1986-1991 animated series.  Filmation's series is therefore technically the only cartoon officially called ''Ghostbusters'', although it is far more obscure and generally referred to as "Filmation's ''Ghostbusters''" to distinguish it from the series about Peter Venkman, Slimer, and company. The Financhu Crisis is a term coined by users from Kiwi Farms to describe the steep decline in the Chandler family's financial management beginning in early 2016. Signs of the Chandlers' worsening finances were made apparent by the increasing amounts of begging videos and donation requests on YouTube and Facebook.

In June 2017, Chris began to take his Patreon account more seriously and recommenced drawing Sonichu comic pages. He has gotten several hundred dollars per month for his efforts, and payments continued until 2 August 2021, when his Patreon account was shut down. As a result, begging had temporarily subsided.
