| What I Will Ban You For
|
|
Learn this, or you will end up getting banned. As a Jerkop, I'm only allowed to ban people who vandalize shit, but vandalism isn't just blanking pages. This may not be a comprehensive list, and if you vandalize in a way that isn't on this list, that doesn't mean I won't ban you.
- Maliciously Modifying pages: This is pretty obvious. If you add gibberish, remove sections, change links so that they redirect to goatse, or otherwise fuck up a page in such a way that it's obvious you aren't even trying to be constructive, you will be banned. IF YOU HAVE A LEGITIMATE REASON TO EDIT PAGES IN SUCH A WAY THAT IT COULD BE MISCONSTRUED AS VANDALISM, SUCH AS REMOVING A PARAGRAPH, EXPLAIN IT IN THE EDIT SUMMARY OR ON THE TALK PAGE BEFORE EDITING. That should prevent misunderstandings and incorrect bans.
- Note: If you vandalize pages by making them extremely long, that might prevent it from loading for normal people. However, it's possible for Jerkops to revert edits without even viewing the page, meaning that this kind of vandalism won't prevent it from being reverted.
- Vandalising User Pages or User Talk pages: You are NOT ALLOWED to edit other people's User Pages without their permission. It doesn't matter if it's another BabyNeko or 16BitAlex, if you edit their page, it is vandalism. Furthermore, you are not allowed to remove or edit Talk Page messages unless it's your own User Page. If you want to hide messages, get the person who added the message to remove it or archive your talk page and start a new one. Removing talk page messages isn't as bad as other forms of vandalism, purely because it's usually not malicious, but it will be reverted and you will receive a warning.
- Advertising: Champ told me that "If some dude signs up and makes a new page with copy pasta about penis pills, then ban them." If you contribute significantly prior to posting advertisements, you'll get a warning. Otherwise, you'll be banned.

A Note on Warnings: If you vandalize a page in a minor way, you'll receive a warning. This doesn't mean you're being watched, but it does mean that if you continue the offending behavior after receiving the warning, you will be banned for vandalism. You're more likely to recieve warnings (as opposed to straight-up bans) if you've contributed to the wiki for an extended period of time, but just because you've been here a while doesn't mean you aren't still bannable. Nobody is irreplaceable here.
Why Vandalising Isn't Worth It:If you vandalize pages, I can revert all your edits with a single button (rollback, evidently a button only Jerkops or greater get). That means that it takes longer for you to vandalize pages than it takes to revert them. Don't even bother.
NOTE THAT I HAVE ORDERS FROM CHAMPTHOM TO BAN VANDALS FOREVER, AS IN PERMABANS. AS IN YOU ONLY HAVE ONE CHANCE.

| What a Jerkop Can't Do

Just as I did, some of you probably have some misconceptions as to the extent of a Jerkop's powers.
- I can't ban you for disagreeing with me. Don't be intimidated by the badge and feel free to yell at me on my talk page if you think I'm wrong. Chances are that I will make mistakes, and if you let them pass, it will decrease the quality of the wiki, which is bad for everyone.
- I can't delete pages that aren't vandalism, such as images that nobody likes. I can't delete pages that have deletion tags unless they were part of someone's vandalism spree of the wiki.
- I can't do anything about you harassing users. This was made very clear to me: if it doesn't involve vandalism, I can't ban it. Harassment is still a bad idea, because you can get banned for it. Delabonte got a 6-month ban for it. Just because I can't ban you for it doesn't mean you won't get banned for it.
