Who is Graduon?

We all know that Chris is incapable of creating an original character, so what exactly is Graduon a rippoff of? I've always thought of him as the Lord Zed to Mary Lee Walsh's Rita, but Zed was never a staff.

• I think right now, it's generally believed that Graduon is simply a generic "ultimate [vague] evil" for the comic. It's a common theme in fiction to have this sort of guy and whether Chris realizes it or not, it gives him a lot of leeway in doing something with him since he's described so vaguely. It seems that it's merely a personification of his fears about graduation or the negative feelings associated with it. --Champthom 20:51, 5 May 2009 (CEST)
  • I think it's the personification of two things. One, the indignity Chris feels that he suffered during his graduation. Two, the fact that graduation for him meant that he was forcibly ejected from school.

• I immediately thought of the nightmare from Kirby's Adventure. Which seems funny now considering his video 'Shut Up, Brain' has the quote "I should be in Dreamland"--Robotnik 10:30, 7 May 2009 (CEST)

• A user from the somethingawful forums claimed to have "inspired" Chris:

"I'm Count Graduon... I sent him a picture of me in a Halo Spartan Armor with a top hat and a monocle, while holding a wine glass of Mt. Dew in a relaxed position."

• Zed DID get imprisoned in a snow globe or some shit at one point anyway, it's one of the few things I remember from Power Rangers. It's not a big leap to put him in a staff, and I think the story is pretty close. Maybe I should delete it after all. It just screamed Zed at me, that was all.   • Actually, someone on /cwc/ figured that Slaweel was more related to Sailor Moon baddie Queen Beryl than Rita Repulsa. The dress, the magic, the crystal ball staff. So, yeah, I think Graduon was just a stereotypical ultimate evil-type-thing.--Blazer 22:13, 16 March 2010 (UTC)

New enemies

Is Graduon getting smashed a sign that Chris has moved on? Every mailbag has the "CHRIS YOU ARE NEARLY 30 MOVE ON MOVE ON" message these days. Is this a reaction to the realisation that no-one gives a shit about his graduation?

Also, with Asperchu and co. now the primary source of torment in his life, is he getting ready to focus all efforts to ROW ROW FIGHT THE POWAH? Has he actually listened (unlikely). Is he striving for actual progression in the plot after ten years (unlikely). Is he just gearing up to vilify his latest set of trolls? (probably). --YawningSquirtleRedux 19:00, 04 February 2010

• If Chris's spoilers are anything to go by then Graduon is not done yet and will return having possessed Metal Sonichu. If Chris's mailbag response really is true then he may just have a reboot and Graduon will be retconned out of existance. --Edward 20:10, 4 February 2010 (UTC)
• If Chris were a good writer, I wouldn't be surprised if Mary is just trying to trick Chris into freeing him with his hobo powers. If they fight each other, then she's just stalling for time. But he's not and this is probably his idea of a climactic defeat, what with the antagonist just giving up.--MoarLurk 21:50, 4 February 2010 (UTC)
• He's just going around defeating all of his villians so that he can prove that he is better than all of them. Its an ego booster. He's had enough of being beaten in real life and his ego has grown so huge that not even fictional characters can have a fictional victory against him in his own comic anymore.
• Alas this is probably true. I don't think Chris knows what happens in the comics until he draws them. For all his planning in advance, you get the feeling that he retcons alot of stuff even as he's drawing it. So we'll see. Mind you, with all the trolls calling him out on his plot holes, he might be doing something about it, but it would be a shame to start now. Who wants properly developed characters and a coherent plot? That's not why I signed up. --User:YawningSquirtleRedux

  • He's going to claim that he's doing a reboot but in fact he will do a "clip show episode". I assume his logic is "Well, a reboot shows everything that happened in the past, a clip show shows everything that happened in the past, SO I CAN JUST REUSE PAGES FROM OLD COMICS AND CLAIM I'M REBOOTING THE SERIES, YAY, NO WORK!". I don't think he knows what a reboot is. Flood the mailbag with explanations of what a reboot is.--MoarLurk 02:26, 5 February 2010 (UTC)

  • "To make a rewrite in history: Graduon's Apprentance originally was the one who preserved his soul in a sphere for a future release. Some time after the pilgrage, upon relic collecting, the original glass sphere with the spirit was broken in transit, and Graduon possessed the nearest body. And through the person's eyes, he refreshed his memory of the spells and sorcery from the locked away books at night. After the original soul and body made a move to America for a method to cure himself of the "split personality" and "mental disorders". It took the Cherokees (long before the Trail of Tears) to recognize the second soul and using the Native American rituals, crafted a new glass sphere onto a wand made of tree bark, and exorcised Graduon's soul from the person and into the wand. Then the tribe put the wand into a case and buried it deep into a cave. And after being excavated in 2000 by modern day archeologists and placed in a Virginia museum. Slaweel had been studying and practicing magic and witchcraft all her life, but didn't turn out perfect. When she visited the museum, she heard Graduon's call from the wand. And possessed by his spells, she stole the wand with undetected escape. With his help, she was able to dispel the enforcements with great powers. And later on, opened up a fake college under the similar name, brainwashed everyone who came in, and that catches us up."
