The explanation for the true driving force of Chris's entire Love Quest can be boiled down to a single, nowadays common word: addiction. Chris is addicted to sweetheart searching, pure and simple, and he showed himself capable of thrashing his entire life in the name of his Sweetheart Search.

This explanation is further supported by the following symptoms of being addicted to something:

1. Unable to meet responsibilities at home, school or office. Chris spends his entire days and nights doing nothing but sleeping all day long in college, drawing only twelve (incredibly shitty) comic books took him nine years, and failed at the only two jobs he ever had.
2. Continues to use substances or engage in behavior even when it is dangerous. Example: putting his Attraction Sign to find a sweetheart in the most inappropriate places, even in places and contexts where not supposed to.
3. The need increases to engage in behaviour or use more of a substance or alternative substance to achieve the same effect or feeling. With every passing day his need for a Sweetheart increases. What? No sweetheart? No problem! Just fuck an anime blow-up doll!
4. Has tried but failed to stop using the substance or end the behavior. One day, he says he listened to Rocky, stop feeding the trolls and continue with his business. The next day, he's back on the search.
5. Continues to engage in the behavior or use the substances even when they are aware of the dangers. Trolls have slandered, stressed and cursed him for 10 months straight. And he's still looking for his sweetbolt.
