Let assume I'm stupid and/or lazy, just how much did Chris-Chan hike? --[[SerenityMoonstone|SerenityMoonstone]] 23:14, 11 October 2010 | Let assume I'm stupid and/or lazy, just how much did Chris-Chan hike? --[[SerenityMoonstone|SerenityMoonstone]] 23:14, 11 October 2010
* Honestly, I'm having a hell of a time doing the calculation. The problem we run into is exactly which direction he took. We know he went to the woodland theater first, so measuring from the parking lot to the theater (there's two paths) you get something like 800-900 feet with an elevation increase of 40 feet. He goes past an 'open field', which could be the Lower Meadows trail. It could also just be a small clearing on the Umbrella Magnolia trail. We know there was then two forks in the road. We know he makes his way to the Carter Family Overlook and can assume he drug his sorry ass home from that point. And of course, we can't neglect the very real possibility he got lost and walked in circles for a while on one of the loops near the Woodland Theater. | * Honestly, I'm having a hell of a time doing the calculation. ::::You're right about the sun, I was using that to try and figure out his walking direction, that time of day the sun would be in the west. So at times he was walking south. His assessment of 'moss grows on the north of rocks' is not hard and fast. Moss usually grows on the north side but there's nothing stopping it from growing on the west or the south. It is actually completely unreliable, just like Chris.
Here's an idea guise. It doesn't matter exactly how long or far he walked. We have a rough estimate and that is perfectly fine. Not even an FA is going to go to this place, track Chris' steps, and measure every path he walked on, much less measure the change in elevation. We don't need to know. Transcribed. Missed a few words, such as what he has in addition to his phone and camera and the word he used to describe the woodland theater. Mupkids 19:49, 9 October 2010 (PDT)
- Pretty sure he's saying "OFF!," as in the brand of insect repellant. The second unintelligible might be Palmer, since I think he's talking about the Palmer Woodland Theater. --GrannyT 21:35, 9 October 2010 (PDT)
In the first few seconds of the video it sounds like he's saying "waking" insead of "making" MoarDesu 20:50, 9 October 2010 (PDT)
What "Carter family" is he talking about?--Švek 21:04, 9 October 2010 (PDT)
- Considering he mentions the Carter name after reaching the overlook, he's probably referring to this. Tadahima 23:47, 9 October 2010 (PDT)
To whomever wrote it, 59 miles is NOT less than one kilometre. Hell, one mile is more than one kilometre. Freecell 02:09, 10 October 2010 (PDT)
- Oh wait, my glasses weren't on. Derp. Freecell 02:12, 10 October 2010 (PDT)
- I wrote it. 0.59 miles is about 950 meters, or a little over ten football field lengths. --Uhh… this is Riley Martin. O-Qua Tangin Wann 10:58, 10 October 2010 (PDT)
Wes commented on the video (Search "WesIseli") . Any thoughts? Should we be adding that bit of info here and/or on the main article of him? I'd do it but I'm too damn tired to think up a concise description --Nechita 11:53, 10 October 2010 (PDT)
- You could say "Wes commented on the video and told Chris to get a job, proving he doesn't know our man-child very well". By the way, is it really the Wes Iseli or is it just someone using the name?Švek 12:06, 10 October 2010 (PDT)
- I doubt Wes Iseli gives two shits about Chris, it's most likely someone posing as him. EtonpilfAnetah 12:46, 10 October 2010 (PDT)
- The one that posted on that video is not the same wes as that is listed on his page here. It could still be Wes using a different account but I doubt it. --Caboose -1 12:48, 10 October 2010 (PDT)
- It's a fake account god damn it. Clydec 12:53, 10 October 2010 (PDT)
After getting a data processing error two times, I successfully put in the time code. I've learned that I shouldn't leave the edit window open for a long time. I copy-pasted my edits to the article, which saved me from wasting ten minutes putting in the edits again. From now on, I'll use NotePad to transcribe and paste the text into the article. --VofDoom38 18:52, 10 October 2010 (PDT)
Did chris learn that moss grows on the north side of a tree from Sonic Sez?
- Probably. I learned about that from the Simpsons.--TheIronFjord 22:43, 29 June 2011 (PDT)

- Honestly, I'm having a hell of a time doing the calculation. All we can say for certain is he was winded walking 300 yards with a mild incline. If he went counter-clockwise on the map, maybe a two miles. If he went from the theater to the overlook, just about a mile.If a field agent could verify the clearing and the 'red growth' tree, which path that was on, we could pin point it better. As well, no one would doubt that he took healthy breaks when the camera was off. So even if it was two miles, I wouldn't be shocked if it took him hours to cover that ground. - I've given that a shot too, I actually used GoogleEarth. What I did was resize the PDF map as well so that it's a pixel per foot to calculate distances. The problem is, there's no landmarks you can see from the sat photos that you can see in the video. This is also thanks to Chris's idea of what is noteworthy - "Look, a tree on the ground.
