The article

I fixed it up a bit, but it still needs stuff adding to it. Also, would this page be better suited as a "chris and..." article? that's my personal opinion, but i won't change it yet. Lorrihed 14:00, 27 May 2011 (PDT)

• My main issue with this article is that it doesn't actually SAY anything. So far it seems like dead weight. Does anyone have an actual plan on what this article is supposed to be? I don't even know if it should be a page at all until that's decided. Freecell (t/c) 14:08, 27 May 2011 (PDT)
  • Well I didn't make the article, but I could see adding why Chris is a fan of these things (i.e. all the childish things due to him being still a child, the ancient sitcoms because of his ancient parents) but I don't really know the proper ins and outs of the CWCki, and i know speculation is frowned upon. Hopefully it means we can also get rid of all the stub articles about things he refers to once or twice at least. Lorrihed 14:20, 27 May 2011 (PDT)
• Well that's a plus. It would be good to cut down all the stub articles. I'm not sure what Champ will think of this though. I'd prefer a different title personally. Fandoms sounds a bit vauge. Also, I don't think it should be separated into "major" and "minor" fandoms or whatever. That's a bit vauge too and would be hard to classify. We don't know exactly how how closely Chris follows any of these anymore. I think it'd be better to classify them by format. TV shows, movies, cartoons, anime, literature, ect. That's just what I think anyway.

• I tried to figure out what exactly the purpose of this article and I see what you're getting at, but just because articles are stubs doesn't mean that it's a bad thing. Yes, there are a few articles that are stubs but that just means people need to do work and elaborate on them. I'm not a big fan of having huge ass pages where stuff is all over the place. Things have separate articles to keep track of times Chris has mentioned stuff and if we do this all here, it will REALLY get messy. This could be a list of things Chris likes, but if that's the case couldn't this be incorporated somewhere else? For instance, couldn't we just list the TV shows Chris likes in Chris and television? Fandom has a certain connotation to it, it implies a certain obsession with it, at least in my opinion and I don't think some of these quality as Chris being a fan of them. Chris likes I Love Lucy but I don't think he's a "fan" of it in the sense he'd go to an I Love Lucy convention or he'd own I Love Lucy paraphernalia. Now we can say Chris has some attachment to say Pokemon given he owns quite a bit of Pokemon related memorabilia, including his Ash Ketchum getup which would constitute a fandom. But like I said, couldn't we just mention this in somewhere like "Chris and video games"? If there's particular animes he likes, couldn't we just mention them in Anime (which, I think we already have done)?

I agree with Freecell on questioning the purpose of this page. I think if someone was to look at this page, their question would be "What does Chris like?" so couldn't we just call it "List of things Chris likes" if we insist on having a page dedicated to the things Chris likes? But then we get into a sticky question of Chris liking something versus something we know Chris does. We know the stuff he watches on Netflix, but do we know which of them he likes versus what he is ambivalent about?

Personally, my suggestion is that if this article isn't deleted, that it's retooled to document the stuff Chris likes, if we insist on having it. Like I said, this content could be incorporated into other pages. I don't think someone who is looking up stuff about Chris for the first time will have a hard time figuring out what he likes. They'll look at the page for Chris, see he's into TV, video games, go to the appropriate articles and see what sort of stuff he likes specifically. On a broader issue, I don't think having stubs is a bad thing, like I said, stubs are just articles that need work. If an article is a stub, that means people need to get off their asses and do some research to expand them. I think trying to merge a lot of unrelated stuff into one page is just as bad as making a ton of separate pages for different stuff. If stuff can go together, yes, it can go on one page but we're dealing with a lot of diverse stuff here, does it make sense to have one page that's all over the place with the stuff Chris likes?
