I dunno, is it kinda clunky to begin every example with "It was initially written that"? Is there a better way of formatting these? Hurtful Truth Level (talk) 06:09, 18 February 2022 (UTC)
Michael Snyder
So I'm seeing concerns for the account TheRCcholic, with it being claimed that we don't know for certain if this is really Snyder. With some of the edits that have been going on surrounding this account as of late, is it safe to mention the account under Snyder's section now? Psycho 🐧 (talk) 00:19, 25 March 2025 (EDT)
What Even is Trolling?
Pretending someone you are not and making Chris believe she is talking to someone from a different universe messing with her sense of reality is not trolling? Master (talk) 23:03, 26 April 2025 (EDT)
- Chris specifically asked the Watchmen to roleplay as the character, because he believed that they could channel her and control her or some shit. What they were trying to do late into the Lainchu saga was to try and get Chris back, because they thought Anaxis himself was a troll that manipulated him into making the two lists he made from watching Molly the Medium. That was also around the time when they also believed that Praetor were a group of trolls, Chris was distancing himself from the Watchmen, and they began suspecting Anaxis was a bad actor. They were indeed enabling Chris that whole time, (hell, WCT himself arguably did some pretty trollish shit by the end of it) but that's not necessarily the same thing as trying to get a rise out of him. - Anyone could have said "no" at any instance. Arguably the watchmen were the trolls and praetor were not. Like wasn't MKRNightVee trying to get another lolcow on their server at one point because she thought it would be fun to see them banter with Chris? Also what's the stuff with them donning god and goddess personas like "CPU Bismuth Heart", making Chris believe they are gods? I'm pretty religious so, I see that as idolatrous. I guess one could see it as trying to help Chris, but how is it different from Kacey, ABL, or Kim Wilson? Master (talk) 23:42, 26 April 2025 (EDT)
- Admittedly, I honest to God don't know what their end goal was at times, especially when you consider the fact the whole group essentially started as a trolling group, whose leader engaged with weens and A-logged Chris, in on itself. Psycho 🐧 (talk) 00:16, 27 April 2025 (EDT)
- I think it really all comes down to intent at the end of the day. The alleged mission statement of the Watchmen was that they wanted to protect Chris from bad actors who might pose a threat to him, but in reality, that mostly translated into preventing all other people from interacting with Chris, so that his social circle stayed tight and controlled. This is what led to such immediate hostility towards Praetor despite the fact that they hadn't done anything very egregious yet. As for the roleplaying, it was basically to keep Chris's attention on the Watchmen in the hopes of preventing it from drifting elsewhere, and building enough trust with him to have a level of influence on his decisions (keeping Jacob Sockness blocked being a prime example). Trolling, as we understand it from a CWC perspective, tends to involve getting Chris to create content through causing a reaction in him, and that was clearly always the M.O. of the past trolls who also gave Chris advice (Kacey, Alec, and Kim). Yes, they seemingly were trying to help Chris, but it was never really for his benefit so much as for the entertainment of the masses who watched him.
- As far as I'm aware, this was never a desire expressed by any Watchmen members. I will say that the Watchmen seemed to grow increasingly apathetic about their supposed role in the months leading up to the group splintering, with them attempting the Jahans thing and failing to object to WCT's lore plans. It'd be a mistake to believe that the Watchmen had any sort of end goal in mind, but if you were to ask them if they'd consider what they were doing trolling, I'd guess most of them would probably say no. At best, you could probably describe them as enablers with some trollish qualities to them. Anaxis (talk) 06:00, 27 April 2025 (EDT)
