Son-Chu was the name Chris gave to his car. Chris has driven several cars over the years, all bearing vanity plates reading "SONICHU". Son-Chu's first incarnation was a 1994 Ford Escort station wagon that Chris drove until 2013, when he replaced it with a white Cadillac Seville, until it died from a cracked engine block. From September 2014 to November 2018, Chris drove a 2010 Ford Focus sedan, until its engine died. The Chandlers subsequently shared one vehicle: Barb's Dodge Grand Caravan, although Chris transferred the SONICHU plates onto it, thus making it the fourth and final incarnation of Son-Chu, until his arrest for incest and a thief stealing the unattended vehicle's plates, at which point the plates have been replaced and the van is now Barb's alone. The van was severly damaged in November 2021 following a T-bone collision which left Barb injured with broken ribs and a concussion.

While Chris, to put it mildly, obviously suffers from multiple "disconcerting" issues which are listed elsewhere in this very wiki, the Virginia Department of Motor Vehicles has nevertheless given him full permission to drive a motor vehicle which has been used to accidentally cause personal injury. The DMV has yet to release an apology for this grievous lapse in judgment by their Ruckersville department.
