On 7 September 2017, a few hours after Chris had complained about being depressed over still being single, Quinn commented, "We need to talk." Later that day, she posted on her Facebook, "Things change", followed by "Jessica Quinn is with Christine Weston Chandler, subsequently updating her relationship status to "It's been complicated with Christine Weston Chandler". Chris also updated his status to "It's been complicated with Jessica Quinn". A commentator asked Quinn if she and Chris were a couple, to which she answered "We're testing the waters."
Most of the sightings are initially posted to the [[r/ChrisChanSonichu|r/ChrisChanSonichu subreddit]] or to [[Twitter]]. Most sightings to date have involved Chris shopping. As of [[August 2023|August]], it has been confirmed that Chris once again has his [[Son-Chu|own car]]. On several occasions, Chris was seen accompanied by [[Flutter]], which has led to speculation that she might be his newest [[sweetheart]].


According to Quinn, they will meet up on 6 October 2017.
These factors combined, along with Chris's diminished internet presence, have caused sightings of Chris to remain much more common than they ever were before his arrest.

On 27 March 2023, Chris was released from jail, with the only explanation being "released by court order". Beginning on 1 May 2023, sightings of Chris were reported in various places around Chesterfield County, Virginia. From June onwards, Chris has been spotted in a number of locations around the state of Virginia, including Williamsburg, Lynchburg, Bedford and Ruckersville. In 2024 Chris began to be spotted in Finland and at conventions.
