GameStop Assault

The GameStop Assault video is a short film clip captured by Tumblr user monozettai[1], in which Chris, sporting full Tomgirl regalia, throws away any pity points he may have earned by breaking three separate laws in one visit to his local GameStop. Captured on 26 December 2014, the video[2] shows Chris loudly requesting that the store's employees not bother with calling anyone, presumably to have him forcefully ejected from the premises. Strutting confidently out of the store, Chris sprays pepper spray into the eyes of the employee who was calling security, who understandably reacts with an expression of both horror and confusion. Chris supposedly intended to deface a Sonic Boom display at the store; it is not clear whether or not he succeeded, or if the employees at the store recognized him as the Chris they know and previously refused to tolerate - though it is claimed by monozettai that they did, and he refused to leave.

Demonstrating his calm and collected demeanor in the face of antagonisation, Chris blows a raspberry at the camera.

True to form, Chris's fashion sense seems to be at its worst now that he's crossdressing - his outfit consists of novelty purple My Little Pony toy glasses, Manchester High hoodie, blue denim shorts, purple leggings, a hairband and what appear to be light-brown Ugg boots. Note that the ill-fitting Manchester High hoodie seems to be a firm favorite in Chris's tomgirl wardrobe, as it is also seen in the I Love You, Catherine video.

Video Background

After the video was discovered by the Christorians, many weens flooded monozettai's inbox with questions on his recollection of the event. This is what he had to say about the incident:

I was in Gamestop looking at the 3ds rack when I heard a racket from my left. I looked up and saw Chris surrounded by 3-4 employees in a corner (I recognized Chris’ voice before their appearance). A woman was telling Chris that they had been banned from the store and needed to leave, to which Chris responded with something like “Oh come ON, can’t we let bygones be bygones?” The employees ignored him and continued to tell him to leave and threatened to call security. Eventually they dispersed to do so, which is about when I began filming (I had been wondering whether or not I should, but I’d say only about 20 or so seconds had gone by between when I noticed and when I started filming).

After the video I heard the employees complaining about the use of pepper spray. I didn’t notice it when I initially filmed nor was I ever in the vicinity of the spray, so I can’t confirm anything, but as you can see Chris sprayed something at an employee in the video. I don’t remember seeing that employee around after that so I assume he left. Anyway, a woman buying a game at the counter asked the employee she had been interacting with what had just happened and the employee replied that Chris was “some guy that came in from time to time to mess with the Sonic Boom games because he was upset that Sonic’s arms had changed color, ” or something to that effect. Sadly I did not check to see what happened to the Sonic Boom and only stayed for another 5 minutes or so before leaving, but nothing else of interest happened other than employees running back and forth from the counter to the back room, anxiously talking about contacting security and making sure “he” was gone.[3]

Spray and Aftermath

Expert recreation of Chris's first night in the pokey.

According to some, including monozettai[4], the substance sprayed on the hapless employee was indeed mace, or a derivative thereof. However, many expressed doubt on this due to the mild reaction of Chris's victim, theorizing it may be spray paint or perfume (whatever it was, he's guilty of assault regardless). Ultimately, we may need to wait for Chris's inevitable account on Facebook to be sure, but that's assuming he doesn't twist the tale to make himself look like a noble activist and get sympathy out of his white knights.

A followup call from a 4chan troll[4] revealed that the employee will be pressing charges, in a development remarkably similar to the events of 28 October 2011. If the claims by the troll are indeed true, it is likely that Chris will be facing severe legal penalties, as his crime was technically malicious assault, as well as the laws he broke by not only refusing to leave a premise he was banned from but quite possibly also vandalism of their merchandise.

Leaked low quality audio from a police scanner indicated that Chris also caused unspecified trouble at JCPenney and Sears, may have attempted to carjack a man in the parking lot, who promptly called the police, and that Barbara knows what has happened as the police somehow managed to contact her for information. It also seems that the police didn't catch him at the mall, at one point saying that he left the building half an hour ago. As such, it is unclear when or where the police caught him, but he was likely caught on the same day, meaning that as of 28 December, Chris has been in prison for two days.

A phone call to a local jail on the 28 December revealed that Chris was indeed in jail, awaiting a hearing the next day for these charges. Whatever the outcome, it's doubtful it'll teach Chris anything about how to behave in public, it'll more likely simply resuscitate his old grudge against the police.
