A pretty cool guy? Possibly.

Hello, I'm wwwwolf. I'm just a random wikihead and a random snarky frequently-facepalm-pulling appreciator of the CWC YouTube tragicomedy. I mostly created the account here because wiki editing has become sort of a reflex for me. I probably do minor corrections here and ramble on and on and on about some things where Chris fails at.

I'm not really intending to troll Chris. (Well, the trolls do sometimes make important points. =) My official and final opinion on Chris as a person is that he needs to get a grip, and seek help after that one video, he needs to get a really effing good grip and seek help like right now, or better yet, yesterday, dammit. Chris, unfortunately, won't learn or listen, but at least I can say I tried, and a lot of people have tried. There's only so much a person who's living in the other side of the world can do! I've done all I can, and now I just need some popcorn and a nice seat.

I am far more interested of Chris as a net phenomenon. He's one of those quaint little things that have become possible due to people discovering new and previously unthinkable ways to make fools of themselves on the Internet. This is history in the making. This is stuff that makes us question what we do. This is stuff that makes us question what others are doing. This amuses us. This makes us cry. This is performance art.

My own mission is to educate people. I educate people by finding contrasts: Here's what to do, here's what not to do. And boy, does Chris ever find ways of how not to do things! In so many fields dear to me! No matter what type of art we're dealing with, Chris's attempts at doing it are usually good examples of how not to do it. For example, Sonichu comic commits almost all embarrassing newbie mistakes in writing, and Chris isn't afraid to show the comic to the world, so I'm using it as an educational example. Of course.

How Chris has helped me - and how he could help you

  • I got a Hexbox! It's completely awesome!
  • I started a web comic. With only about 6 months of weekly updates done, it's perhaps not as deeply confusing to random readers as Chris's magnum opus, but I'm primarily focusing on improving my art skills. It does show a bit more of technical artistic capability than Chris's comic, if I say so myself.
  • While analysing Chris's writings, I've looked at some of my old writings and noticed that I've suffered from some of the same problems. (I mean, I had a nagging feeling that something is wrong in one story where two characters of mine meet and end up married before the end, but I just couldn't say what it was.) Through this kind of analysis, we can all learn to write better fiction!

How to get in touch with me

Spam me on the talk page.

As far as other CWC-related activities go: I often visit his YouTube channel. I'm not in IRC. (I'm from Finland. IRC is old hat. Everyone knows that you connect there to Waste Time.) I read /_cwc/ but rarely post there. I may read EDF if I get bored enough.

Helpful suggestions for all wiki editors

Um... er...

...get wikEd. I'm using it in cwcki as a GreaseMonkey script, and while wikEd does have its own quirks (slow to load, makes the editor do weird things, doesn't always cooperate well with custom skins in other wikis, etc), it adds cleanup tools as well as a search/replace tool that understands regular expressions too. Say, cleaning up main page references? Put "^(:\s*)?''Main article: \[\[(.*)\]\]''" in search field, put "{{main|$2}}" in replace field, hit "Search field is a regular expression" button and "Replace all matches" button. Tada!

Sonichu Gamer Non-Challenge

Type A: When the page detailing Chris's achievements became public knowledge, I was already half-through BioShock. So yeah.

Type B: I found Mirror's Edge in bargain bin in 30 October 2009. I popped it in around 22:15. Around 03:00, I had completed four first levels and got the "Mine!" and "Free flowing" achievements, completing the challenge. (Even with all of his free time, Chris needed several days to get these?) I also got the "Pacifist" achievement, and for the life of me, I don't understand how the hell Chris was unable to get it. I guess he just ain't a taffer.

Type C: Not done yet, but I'm so going to demolish Brütal Legend once I have enough spare money to buy it. I've got better games to get before it.

Other notes: I get a proverbial lemon prize for not being able to beat Street Fighter IV on normal skill level, even once. (I just suck at geekier fighters. I do slightly better in SoulCalibur series.) I recently got into Guitar Hero series and I'm off to a good-ish start.
