'''Patreon''' is a website that allows users to make donations to artists, videomakers, musicians, etc. It runs under a subscription-based system where a user can become a monthly or yearly "patron" by purchasing a type of tier, which can allow them to view exclusive content and/or see content early as run by the artist in question. Chris, begging for money, while standing in front of more than a thousand dollars' worth of Lego sets and toys.

The Financhu Crisis is a term coined by users from Kiwi Farms to describe the steep decline in the Chandler family's financial management beginning in early 2016. Signs of the Chandlers' worsening finances were made apparent by the increasing amounts of begging videos and donation requests on YouTube and Facebook.

In June 2017, Chris began to take his Patreon account more seriously and recommenced drawing Sonichu comic pages. He has gotten several hundred dollars per month for his efforts, and payments continued until 2 August 2021, when his Patreon account was shut down. As a result, begging had temporarily subsided.
