Talk:Chris Chan: A Comprehensive History

Does this really need to have an article? Unless Chris acknowledged these video essays or has talked to the creator personally like he did with Sachumo, I don't think this should exist. Reading off CWCki articles isn't very impressive and has little to do with the history of Chris himself. DirtyCrappedMiniskirt (talk) 00:26, 21 April 2019 (UTC)

He has actually talked about them and acknowledged them on Twitter, though mostly in a negative light in the past because it exceeded the hurtful truth level. The series is also highly popular on KF and Reddit with Chris himself even following and liking Geno's tweets about the series. Even if it is just reading the CWCki, it's an easily accessible way to see a lot of Chris's videos and audio in chronological order. --Moppo.moose (talk) 01:05, 21 April 2019 (UTC)

Again, spoonfeeding random CWC factoids to twelve year olds isn't impressive nor is it important to Chris himself. CWC mentioning him is more of a reason to keep this article up, but if the only documented acknowledgement was a tweet then it should probably just stay on the twitter article(s). If this article stays up, every kid with a 10 dollar walmart mic and sony vegas will start plugging their "extensive documentaries" on this wiki. Cutting this article down

I think we should cut this article down and only document Chris' responses to it. Seeing that's what we do to all the fan works. Description of each episodes and the youtube account backstory about the old and new series seem pointless. Since Geno works hard on these, maybe we could put up a link to the episodes playlist on the main page. - klop (talk) 03:53, 5 July 2020 (UTC)

Section

Should there be a section about the people who interact with Chris having had some influence from the series? The intro mentions KwaiiSandbag:

The documentary itself ended up being a part of Christory in a more direct fashion, as at least one enabler interested in Chris's story reached out to him and successfully encouraged him to stop role-playing as Sonichu by pretending to have psychic powers.

Other examples would be Jacob Sockness and (supposedly, there's no source on her article) Bella. The WCT might count too since he was apparently in Geno's Discord server and met Naught through it. Hurtful Truth Level (talk) 00:08, 27 January 2022 (UTC)

Hyphen

Does the series use the hyphen in "Chris-Chan"? Scrolling through the episode titles, it seems to spell it as "Chris Chan". This article should be renamed without the hyphen if that's the case. Hurtful Truth Level (talk) 06:48, 27 January 2022 (UTC)

Intro

I think the intro could be rewritten a bit. For example:

Geno's videos go into greater detail, with each video being around 30 to 40 minutes in length. The series currently covers 35 out of 39 years of Chris's life, currently covering just about everything of note from Chris's birth to late 2017.

And

The series is in chronological order, taking several videos just to cover Chris's life before his internet fame, with a significant portion of the series (28 episodes) dedicated to the densely packed events of 2009 and 2010.

Could be noted that a portion of the runtime is from playback of Chris's audio/video. For example, '09-'10 has a lot of Chris videos because the trolls pushed for him to make those.

Also that the series works with what is public information as its source material. However trolls never released much of their interactions with Chris - see quotes from the Pickle Man on Chris and manipulation - so this affects the source material. April Fools

Geno Samuel article

Redundancy issue is a good point. A Geno page without the stuff directly about Comprehensive History would probably be a few paragraphs or so. Maybe as an alternative to making separate pages, we could include a "Geno Samuel" section within this article. Or rename this article to Geno Samuel and make Comprehensive History a section within it, cutting down the writeup about it like klop suggested on this talk page a while back. I'm thinking if Comprehensive History is changed to become a section within a Geno Samuel article, the Overview, History, April Fools, Omissions, Influence, Episodes, and Remastered Cut sections could be mostly removed, and a few paragraphs or so of the remainder could be merged into the intro to create the new section. I think it makes more sense to split them up into two articles. There's no reason to get rid of the tables and all the organizational stuff dedicated to the documentary, along with its own history, since it's extensive and quite a bit of it does not have to specifically do with Geno (since people like Jacob Sockness and Isabella Loretta Janke took an interest in Chris after learning about him). This is likely one of the more visited pages on this site, and since fewer people know who Geno Samuel is specifically, I think that ditching the page for a profile about him with a subheading about the documentary would be a mistake. An alternative to that would be giving a more detailed look at CCACH as a subheading, much like Asperchu/Background. KingClark (talk) 21:38, 20 December 2023 (EST)

First season

I've noticed some people adding in mentions of the "first season" on other pages, particularly related to timeline stuff.
