There are some images on the CWCki that either appear only during certain days of the year, or are not embedded on any page through conventional means (such as via MediaWiki:Common.css). Those images are listed below, so that they do not show up on the unused files page.
Seasonal banners
The main banner on Main Page changes on certain days: the following tables list the banners that appear on certain days.
We now recommend all new banners to use the lossless PNG file format, which allows for easier changes in future.

Retired banners
Retired banners should not be deleted, as a matter of historical record: furthermore, they may be reinstated if circumstances change in a way that makes them relevant again.
