In June 2017, Chris drew art of himself as a My Little Pony character, dubbing his character Miss Night Star. The cutie mark was based on the result of an online quiz result that he shared. The next day, he drew fanart of Night Star crossing over with the official characters of the My Little Pony television show. He included a likeness of Andrea Libman, voice actress for the female ponies in the drawing, and tweeted it to her.[2]

Another day later, Chris shared a new drawing of his OC - clearly by another person and lacking credit to the artist.[3] On Kiwi Farms, user borbera proved that they were the artist, claiming that Chris did not express any gratitude for the work.[4]. In August of the same year, Chris shared another fan drawing, once again without credit.[5]

During the events of the Doopie Saga, users on Kiwi Farms discovered that Chris had made a Twitter sockpuppet account named after his pony character in early August 2017, @NightStar2891. Chris used the account to White knight himself against trolls, supporting his claims to still being friends with Doopie, affirming his gender identity, and all but directly calling out Doopie for leaking the Doopie Emails to Kiwi Farms.
When using the account, Chris consistently refers to himself in the third person, and maintains (as both "Night Star" and himself) that it is run by a loyal fan. However, in addition to the account's use of Chris's OC (complete with the same artwork used by Chris), "Miss Night Star's" use of Chris's distinctive grammar and style betrays him; furthermore, the number at the end of the handle (2891) is Chris's birth year backwards, and the account is geolocated to Virginia. Chris seems to genuinely believe that he is putting on a convincing ruse with the account, reminiscent of his JenkinsJinkies moniker from years before.
On 7 August, Kiwi Farms user Marvin obtained screencaps from "Night Star" of her supposed private conversations with Chris (i.e. Chris talking to himself)[7], which Night Star gave as proof of being a separate person. Later that day, Chris and Night Star both reasserted their independence. In an additional attempt to prove that Night Star wasn't him, Chris used the account to give a fake biography of the person allegedly behind it. Details include "Night Star" having a sister named Gloria, growing up in Richmond, and earning a degree in "psychological arts" at the University of Virginia before getting a job at McDonald's (presumably due to earning a useless degree in a field that doesn't exist).
