*Why is does this need to be called Twitter Tracker unless it's going on the front page in the same way the CWCipedia Tracker is? Is there any reason other than "Conan 'O Brian did it"? If there is to be a Twitter Tracker, it should be something similar to the Twitter thing on CWCipedia and then a Twitter page to serve as an archive when Chris inevitably deletes his account or gets TOSed. Would someone looking for Chris's twitter look for "Twitter" or "Twitter Tracker"? Do you want to pipe every instance of "Twitter" to "Twitter Tracker" and what good reason is there for this aside from the Conan reference? --[[User:Champthom|Champthom]] 02:21, 29 December 2009 (CET)
== Need a better way == | |||
This probably needs a better way to dump and format these messages. In general, I'm a bit annoyed by the Web 2.0 obsession with "x days ago" style dates - nice for users, but crappy for people who mirror the content.
There's probably a bazillion different programs to read Twitter messages through the API and reformat them more nicely. Since it's probably unlikely that Chris will be interested of using Twitter much more (since the Twitter box was removed from CWCipedia), I'm probably not doing regular script-based updates any more. *For Chris's tweets, I'd just archive the significant stuff that has potential to be included in articles or comments about something new / bizarre. Short tweets on him agreeing with people or mundane updates about video games aren't noteworthy. Someone archived all of his tweets for last September and [https://sonichu.com/cwcki/September_2017_tweets it ended up being 160+ messages long] - the drawback of which is that interesting updates get buried in a pile of tedium. As for the people replying to him, what I usually do is archive just the messages to which Chris himself had made an interesting response, like [https://sonichu.com/cwcki/Bryanfrogboy#Argument_over_Reality_Cartoons when he argued with Bryan]. Also, maybe we should consider just merging Facebook and Twitter into one article, "March 2018 social media posts," for example. The issue with the current set-up is that much of his social media is linked to Twitter, so when he posts something to Facebook/Patreon/YouTube, a short version of it gets autoposted to Twitter, and it can be a hassle trying to figure out which CWCki page should archive it. For instance, [https://sonichu.com/cwcki/February_2018_tweets#Standing_While_I_draw.21 this update] is a shortened version and Facebook has the actual picture. :Elon called it Twitter when he was on television telling advertisers to piss off. He has a weird obsession with that letter, but most people just call it Twitter because that's the brand that lives in the zeitgeist. Plus renaming it would mean we'd have to rename a bunch of articles, which isn't worth the effort. I say we keep it as Twitter, much like Musk should have done. Editors have been all over the place with this recently. Twitter, X, Twitter/X, "X (formerly Twitter)", "Twitter (now called X)", etc. Any chance we could nail down a consensus? The page itself has a disclaimer that it will continue to be called Twitter; we can either keep that standard or take it down and use another. I don't really have a strong preference, and I'm fine with going through the site and making changes. Honestly, it's the inconsistency that's bugging me more than anything. Input is appreciated, thanks. JinkiesJanke (talk) 17:59, 9 January 2024 (EST)
- Elon called it Twitter when he was on television telling advertisers to piss off. He has a weird obsession with that letter, but most people just call it Twitter because that's the brand that lives in the zeitgeist. Plus renaming it would mean we'd have to rename a bunch of articles, which isn't worth the effort. I say we keep it as Twitter, much like Musk should have done. The only time it should be referred to as "X", IMO, is in this article clarifying that it's the current official name of the platform. KingClark (talk) 18:50, 9 January 2024 (EST)

We should probably stop cataloguing this stuff now that he's officially back. Cereally (talk) 22:09, 17 October 2023 (EDT)
Elon Musk article
Should Elon Musk become its own article? It'd be on the small size, but he's probably roughly as relevant as someone like John Tesh, given that Chris ragequit Twitter over him. Also if it's made into an article, we should use that one photo of him jumping at the Trump rally for the infobox. Hurtful Truth Level (talk) 06:06, 11 November 2024 (EST)
