The fact he was on honor roll is something Chris brings up to show he's not stupid.
At Graduation, he was aiming to win the art award for his clay sculptures; however, Chris lacked three vital characteristics to win such an award: Originality, Creativity and Talent. His sense of entitlement and the fact that everything had been handed to him on a silver platter thus far, he was shocked by the fact they weren't just going to give the award to him and pat him on the head like a good little retard. Chris started crying and charged out of the ceremony in tears.
Actuality
Based on Chris's graduation pictures in both high school and college, he is wearing a sash that generally indicates graduating with honors. However, considering that honor roll is generally whatever grade you get no matter what the course, it's very possible Chris could have gotten honor roll because he excelled in easier courses like Remedial Math, Remedial English, and special education courses.
If Chris were indeed an honor roll student (that is, having a GPA over 3.0), then the public education system has failed us one time too many. Luckily, this is about as likely as Sarah Hammer divorcing her husband and declaring Chris her one true love.
