Chris reportedly tried the drink because he saw Marge Simpson try it in an episode of The Simpsons, and because it didn't sound like a very alcoholic drink. Note that when he swallows the drink, he performs the same reaction when he swallows his navy.

Unidentified Male voice: Alright, rocket. (Rock it?)
Unidentified Female voice: Okay!
(Chris sips a tiny amount of Long Island Iced Tea)
Unidentified Female voice: What do you think of it?
Chris: Goes down salty.
Unidentified Female voice: Kinda salty?
Chris: Yep. -pause- Uh, it's pretty tasty.
Unidentified Female voice: Yeah.
