Help:Formatting social media posts

In the typical fashion of documenting anything produced by Chris, the CWCki tries its best to compile and archive all of Chris's posts to his social media accounts (such as his Twitter/X, Facebook, and Bluesky). Once implemented, they can serve as a great source for references to be used for the rest of the wiki.

Of course, this means copying and pasting a massive amount of posts to their respective pages for each month and year, most of which could be considered boring or uninteresting, so a number of a posts are missing from the CWCki due to lack of interest or not being deemed notable enough.

However, you can help.

Anyone is welcome to become a CWCki editor. CWCki editors are free to edit and create the social media post articles. Here is a guide showing how it's done, which can also hopefully provide groundwork for basic policies for consistency throughout the archives. Having a basic grasp of the beginner guides for CWCki/wiki editing will help.

The rundown

In recent years, the CWCki will create an article for a particular month's social media posts, and it is titled as such (e.g. January 2025 social media posts). In these articles, Chris's posts are formatted in chronological order with contextual information (such as the date and time, what and who is being replied to, et cetera). This essentially boils down to copying and pasting the text of the posts into the CWCki's editing format for accessibility and readability, and occasionally adding in some commentary with text, piping, and/or images. As of today, Chris most often posts on Twitter and Bluesky, so you can go there to start taking posts and adding them to the CWCki.

How it's done

A normal post

Here is an example of what a typical post section looks like, and how it's written in the correct format to appear on the CWCki.

Once a post is added, it can now be used as a reference for the wiki. You can do so by typing out the reference template as normal, and insert the link to the specific post on the article using the title, like this: "<ref>[[February 20XX social media posts#Post title, be creative and concise]]</ref>".

A post in which there is conversation

Now that we went over how a regular post from Chris is added, we will go over posts that include Chris replying to other posts and multiple people posting. Here is a quick hypothetical demonstration of Chris replying to a random person's post.

If the post interaction is as brief as above, the timing format (which tells the time of Chris's reply post) will likely suffice. However, when there are multiple replies with different times, the following is likely necessary. Pay attention to how the formatting of the times is done differently.

The times of Chris's posts get priority, but it's also fine to write the time of others' posts as long as it's accurate. Also note that the times used on the CWCki are in Eastern Standard Time (the time zone in Virginia), so be sure to remember this when adding the times of posts. Sometimes when Chris posts several replies, it's all at the same time (but this isn't always the case, so pay attention when adding it, then format it accordingly like above).

Other basics

Images

Sometimes Chris or someone he's replying to will attach an image to their post. If the image is noteworthy or relevant enough, then feel free to upload it to the CWCki and use it accordingly. Otherwise, describing the image with words will usually suffice. Images posted by Chris get higher priority and are deemed of more importance.

The same is done for GIFs, though are typically less needed to be uploaded for any additional context.

When uploading images, it's good to give the files descriptive names. Typically they are dated and numbered depending on the post which uses them.

Whenever someone posts multiple images at once, do the following.

Piping

Piping can also be used in the formatting of social media posts, and it is highly encouraged. Just don't overdo it.
