August was the eighth month of 2023. As a result of his compliance with the autism disorder deferred disposition, Chris's incest charge was dismissed during this month. Chris returned to the Internet for the first time in over two years, with him being sighted on several gaming services and social media platforms he used to use prior to his August 2021 arrest. As usual, Chris was also spotted in public several times throughout the month.

Notable events

• 1 August - The two-year anniversary of Chris's arrest following the incest fallout.
• 4 August - Old Black man and Twitter user 'TheOtakuKing' spots Chris at Walmart and initiates a 10-minute conversation with him, only vaguely recognizing him. He then covertly films a short video of Chris. They apparently became friendly enough to eventually mutually follow each other on Twitter.
• 8 August - Chris shows up to court for his review hearing. A field agent briefly speaks to Chris before David Heilberg intervenes. He then briefly films Chris entering the courthouse. The footage also shows Chris's Chevrolet Aveo, seemingly not yet equipped with the "SONCIHU" license plate. The footage wouldn't be shared until 29 December 2023. The hearing results in "Resolved Order Pending".

  • The judge overseeing Chris's incest case enters for dismissal of the charge, a result of Chris's compliance with the autism disorder deferred disposition.
  • Chris plays Sonic Origins on his old Nintendo Switch for the first time.
• 10 August
  • Chris is spotted online on his Pokémon GO account 'ChrisChanSchu82' prompting reports being posted to r/ChrisChanSonichu. Chris's in-game location at one point reveals him being at the post office in Big Island, Virginia.
  • Reports are posted to r/ChrisChanSonichu of Chris being spotted online on his old Nintendo Switch profile, with an updated Mii avatar picture. Around 9 AM, he is seen playing Tetris 99. Later in the day he briefly plays Pokémon Shining Pearl and Pokémon Legends: Arceus.
• 11 August - It is noticed that Chris's Pokémon GO and Nintendo Switch profiles are no longer available, indicating that he changed the friend codes on both of them.
• 12 August - The personal description in Chris's PSN account is changed from "I am Christine. <3" to "I'm Christ Chan Prime"
• 13 August - Chris accepts in-game gifts in Pokémon GO from a fan.
• 16 August - Chris starts liking numerous different tweets on Twitter, including ones about My Little Pony, GFuel, and his return to Twitter, marking his first activity on social media in over two years.
• 17 August - On Twitter, Chris likes four more tweets with one of them being a comic about My Little Pony characters looking at each other's asses.
• 18 August - On Twitter Chris likes more tweets.
• 19 August - Chris's activity on Twitter skyrockets as he likes seventeen tweets in one day. Most of them are tweets about a romance book series called "The Jane Austen Series", along with a person's response to a meme about missing out on "teen love".
• 23 August - Chris makes his first post-jail social media posts on DeviantART as he dumps previously unseen artwork - including Jail art, colorized Sonichu 15 pages, and art drawn since his release from jail. Chris also notably uploads a recent photo of a poster he drew for the Idea Guys from May 2019. It was last spotted at 14 Branchland Court on 3 May 2023.
• 24 August - Chris is spotted with a new darker hair color buying food at a Walmart in Lynchburg, Virginia.
• 25 August
  • Chris's incest case file is updated to state the charge is "Dismissed".
  • A photo of Chris's Chevrolet Aveo on the road is shared on Kiwi Farms, showcasing his "SONCIHU" license plate. Some speculation on whether or not it is Chris ensues, which was later confirmed to be true.
• 26 August - Three people were fatally shot by Ryan Christopher Palmeter in a mass shooting that took place at a Dollar General store in Jacksonville, Florida. In his manifesto, Palmeter used Sonichu in a meme sarcastically mocking the low death toll of his attack.
• 27 August - The same Kiwi Farms user from two days ago posts that their friend who had shared the license plate photo with him had seen Chris again but in a different car.
• 29 August - Anaxis ends The Lainchu Manifesto, after spending 4 months writing it.
• 31 August - Chris is observed having played a demo version of Street fighter 6 (a PS5 game) heavily implying at some point after being released from jail he bought a PS5. He has also acquired MegaTagmension Blanc + Neptune VS Zombies and Hyperdimension Neptunia PP for the Vita and Dreams for the PS4, earning his first trophy in nearly five years.
